I have full electric outlets and lights in both of my coops, but I don't use them, I think it is much better for the chickens to have rest when they can and let mothernature take care of the eggs on it's own.

now I am really curious...How many weeks or months of rest are chickens supposed to get??
Thank you for asking. Each hen is unique but generally their bodies need to rest up during the 'shorter' days in winter. If any light given approximates the number of hours that nature normally provides, then the hens will be healthier longer and likely produce better and with fewer complications when rest time is over (i.e.. when the days get 'longer' again, i.e., when there are more daylight hours).

Hi I think you mixed the replies, I did not write mother nature need a helping hand, I wrote I let mother nature take care of my eggs, and I let my chicken rest in winter, No Lights for my hens, hehehehe
