I have two 3 and a half old chicks, and they do seem to have feathers all over their bodies. Can they go live outside now? The average weather outside is around 60-70. Tell me what you think!
Thanks. Oh wait, how do you attach a picture? http://pets.webshots.com/photo/2383647230041004988BDVQKA Nevermind, I found a picture that looks a lot like how feathered my pullets are. Thanks again!

Sure, they can live out in the coop, but they'll still need access to a warm spot created by a light, for another couple of weeks. Can you string an extension cord, designed for outdoor use? At 5 1/2 weeks and by then, it will be mid May, they'll be fine without additional warm.

Some of mine have been outside in a coop since they were 2 days old, so yes if they are feathered they are more than ready to be outside in a coop.

I would wait a lil. i dont put mine out until fully feathered even under the wings but unless its summer. i wood still wait a couple more weeks.

Put them in the coop. There's absolutely no reason to keep them in your house, garage, back patio, or basement if you have a way to give them everything they need in the coop. (heat lamp, food, water, bedding)
Let them stink and dust up their coop....not your house!!!
Just my thoughts.

I would use a light only at nights until they are 5 weeks, then stop all together. Mine all go outside at 3.5 weeks and they do great. I have some 5, 6 and almost 11 week old chicks...all outside, no light. They happily greet me in the morning, and it was COLD last night. Just make sure they have a really warm coop when you do take the lamp away.
