I don't know anything about quail eggs, but chickens eggs, I feel, especially in a styro bator 50-60% during the first 17 days is too high. As Gardener said, still air should be 101-102 (I should just start witing 101.5). I also agree with the "dry" incubation or "lower humidity" incubation. This is the method that I have been using and it's been working great for me. Over 90% of my chicks that have been going into lcokdown have been hatching healthy.Trying to find out why my eggs didn't hatch. Using little giant still air incubator with auto turner. Temp stayed at 99.5. Humidity stayed at 50-60%. I heard chicks peeping but they never even attempted to peck their way out. I removed turner on day 18. Waited till day 25 and removed eggs. Almost all had baby's. What did I do wrong? What didn't they even try to peck their way out? Help me please. I've now put quail eggs in and am getting conflicting advice on humidity. One tells me to keep humidity high and others are telling me the opposite. Someone please give me advice on what to do. I'm on day 2 for my quail eggs.![]()

This is the method I use for humidity. I have an older model lg, the 9200 I believe with the fan kit installed. I babysit that thing like it's Heller Keller though to make sure the temp stays in the safe zones.I had the same problem with my first (and only hatch) . Out of 9 viable eggs going into lockdown, I only hatched 3. 2 on the 19th day, a 3rd early on day 20. There are no peeps or movement in the others, now at day 22. Of the 3 that hatched, they were on the outermost part of the incubator, I'm trying to talk myself into doing an "eggtopsy", but candling shows no movement in any of the eggs. I'm wondering if my humidity was too high as well. I had mid 40's for first 18 days, attempted between 65-75% during lockdown, I had to pipe warm water onto sponges to keep the humidity up. Could you please define the optimal dry incubation/low humidity guidelines you try to create in a styrofoam incubator? I have the Hovabator 1632. Thanks for your advice!
