Probably a good idea. My crew are farm kids + I do kitten foster and they have known from a young age that death is just another part of life--That being said it's always extra tough when we lose a favorite or a little one that we've tried hard to save. I don't lie to them about death (it just went to sleep, etc.) but if I can avoid them getting attached and involved in an iffy case I'll do it everytime.
I think it's extra hard with pre-school age kids.
