Fun encounter today!

I let out my chickens in the backyard and was looking in our big tree to see if this baby bird whose nest had fallen was still there. I found a gopher snake instead climbing down the tree, I assume it found the baby bird. It came down, got a drink of water at the base if the tree as our chickens seemed to be deciding amongst themselves whether to pick at him or not. The snake finished his drink, saw the chickens, and quickly slithered away out of the yard

lol.

I only have a couple of not so good pics. I may have the other ones soon.

Snakes only bother me if they're venomous, or if they're in my coop.
I had three boa constrictors and two Burmese pythons when I was younger.

Same here. I was just glad it wasn't a rattler! I figure it is good he fled, he can eat more mice...I guess that is if a hawk doesn't get him first! =P he was easily 3ft long.
