School lunches are regulated by the USDA, schools have no choice in the matter. They have to stick to a certain number of calories, sodium mgs, and fat per week. Oh, and grams of whole grain. And they are even regulated as to what veggies can or cannot be served. Ask me how I know:)
How is u knows? :p

By that I meant we have to serve a certain number of "color" a week. So many red veggies, so many green and so on. So, we can't have corn twice a week because that's considered a starch. Same with peas and potatoes. And the kid has to take at least a half cup of fruit or veggie everyday. They don't have to eat it, they just have to take it. And yes, french fries are considered a veggie according to the USDA
