Fun things to put in run

I will be watching for replies to this as I am interested myself. The hubs thinks I am being ridiculous and “animals are going to do what animals do” and they don’t need to be entertained. Needless to say, I don’t listen to him when he gets like this.

I haven't started setting up my run yet because of this rain but I can't wait - watching the chickens do silly things is 9/10s of the fun!!

I've been keeping a pinterest board of ideas...there are so many great things I've seen so far. I've got a huge run so lots of space, and I've put a big bench for humans to sit and watch their antics, as well as some side tables for coffee etc. I'm going to build a jungle gym with a pallet as a climbing ramp as the main aspect of it. I've got a variety of tree stumps and branches for them to hop onto and a huge mirror for them to inspect themselves in haha...they love the little one I put in their brooder! A dust bath area in old tires and I might try to plant some things for them but we'll see how my actual garden goes first....my thumbs are pretty black. I'd also like to hang a swing....apparently chicken swings are a lot of fun for them and seriously...what could be cuter than a chicken on a swing?! I've also seen ideas where you can hang treats for theMy like vegetables by a twine for them to peck at, or to freeze veggies in I've blocks to keep them cool in the heat. Oh! And I'm going to make a little percussion area...I saw an idea to hang an xylophone on the wall for them to peck at so I might try to mix that up a bit...my toddlers will love playing with their chickies!!

Yeah....so I'm definitely going to be a crazy chicken lady. ‍♀️

Saw this activity center thing at tractor supply. I wanna know if anyone has bought one. :gig:lau

:eek:Ok I'm actually really curious about this! My current "run toys" are just the dust bathing box and some branches for climbing, but I was going to buy a kid's picnic table to replace my old coop, so they'd have something to run around and hop up and down on since they're used to having something in the center of the run, but maybe this would be a better option than a picnic table!

When I purchased my 100 year old home a few years ago, I found an old wood ladder in the basement that I intend on using in the run. It would look something like this....

I haven't owned one myself, but chicken swings seem to be popular. Mine have free range of the backyard and are usually happy scratching, but come running if I plop a pile of straw or grass down just so they can scratch it around!

What the about the TSC chicken play center! It looks like they photoshopped the chicken up on the top. I cant believe they are selling that. Supply supplies demand I guess. My chickens are not big climbers.

I have two mirrors at different heights, two roosts and a swing all at different heights, hanging treat ball for greens and am adding a xylaphone soon. This keeps them occupied until they can free range in our backyard orchard in the afternoon.
