Funky egg!

Have you ever seen such a funky egg? Aside from the slab egg my GC laid last year this is the weirdest. It was just laid by one of my BAs. The weird swirl on top is solid shell; can't flake it off. Those are dark brown tones within the swirl. Also strange is how the whole egg fades dark to light. We've had heat indexes in the low 100s...maybe that has something to do with it. Just thought I'd share my oddity.

I think I saw something like that a couple of years ago...can't find the thread or explanation
You are probably right though - a lot of "oddities" are caused by stress and HEAT is a major stressor.

This morning I got a tiny egg that looked like gourd with membrane exposed with egg white dripping out of that! Gross! I have pullets that are POL so you never know...

My BA has layed 3 eggs with fading color in the last week. No funky looking tip like that though. Can anyone tell me what is causing it? Thanks!

Do you mean that the overall egg shell is faded (lighter) than normal or does the color go from light to dark on the shell?

This doesn't do it justice. It actually goes from brown to white with the pointy end being almost white.
