Funky egg!

Photos?
Do you mean that the overall egg shell is faded (lighter) than normal or does the color go from light to dark on the shell?

How old is she?
I thought I replied to you last night but I must have screwed something up. she is just over a year old. The color goes from darker at the fat end to lighter at the pointed end. I have a picture but it doesn't really do it justice.
I don't see anything wrong with this egg.
Yeah, the picture doesn't show it well. But it definitely starts out brown on the fat end and is almost pure whit at the pointy end. She's been laying for over a year now and this has never happened before.

Is she just starting to lay again after a molt?

As the year progresses eggs can get lighter. The shell gland holds the pigment or dye for the eggs, so she may not be "manufacturing" enough pigment due to shorter days. Just a guess.
