I had set up a single jump in the middle of the arena, parallel to the long sides. Shaq and I had to make a sharp turn coming and going, so I was practicing circles and "8's". My mind wandered, and although I indended to make a left turn after the jump, I had failed to communicate my plans. He landed on the right lead, and I panicked. I didn't think Shaq could switch leads and lurn left in the amount of space we had, so I switched my weight. Because he's the best horse ever, though, Shaq realized what I had wanted, switched leads, and made the left turn. My miscalculation landed me in the wall. Shaq was in no danger of stepping on his reins, so I sat where I landed, waiting for someone to come out and help me up. When nobody came, I crawled over to my horse and used him as a crutch back to the barn. I asked the other riders what was taking them so long, and they told me that they were going to use the other arena, because they didn't want to bother me and get in my way... They had a laugh, and they gave me the picture they took of me covered in arena dirt!
