My husband built this fantastic chicken/duck/goat mansion and we are finally putting all the final touches on. We've got our 8 ducks in their penned run w/ a ramp leading up to their area in the building. They aren't using their little room at all - not sure if it's cause they don't want to or cause they don't get the ramp yet. We've been trying to bribe them with peas, etc. Anyway, we have 7 chicks who are about 2 months old and have been living in our old coop. We needed to knock it down because it is in the way of the fencing for the goats. So, the big question was where to put the little ones....we didn't want to put them with our big girls (there are 10) and they can be a bit mean to newcomers!
Soooo, we decided that we would put the chicks in the duck room for a few weeks since the ducks weren't using it and just shut the door to keep them seperated. Last night, we get home from dinner and I look outside and think to myself...why are there so many ducks and why do we have so many white ones????? Took my brain a few minutes to realize the chicks had escaped and were happily playing in the duck pen!!!!!
