My son just came for a visit, and we went to
visit with the chickens, one roo that won't crow
and 13 pullets not yet laying, but I'm sure everyone
is getting closer. Anyway, my son has one of those
fancy phones you can pull up youtube on, and he
played the egg song, the way the chickens reacted
was nothing short of hilarious! Hope it doesn't confuse
them.

Oh yeah, I have to try this!!!

Had a friend do the same thing with mine... She was cracking up as she is a city girl... I know I am going to sound crazy with this one but... After I get all my girls and boy in the coop for the night I stand at the window and sing ( Hush little baby ) and they quiet right on down for the night...

I go in the coop and tell them, "Sweet dreams beautiful girls." My husband thinks I have lost my mind.

I have a strange little ritual myself when I close the coop door. I tell them "You be good girls, k?" I started that with my cockatiels and for some reason I just have to tell the chickens the same thing haha.

I always tell my girls (and boys) good morning as I am approaching and opening the coop so that they aren't startled when I open the door. Then when I shut them up for the night, I tell them good night, too

In the warmer months when the chick chicks (what I call them still at 7 months) went in by themselves at night......I would tell all of them not to stay up too late

Guess it makes me feel like a good keeper of my flock.
