Future chicken mom from Greenville, SC

Hey Big Red,

My wife and I are moving to Colleton County from Wisconsin to retire. Somewhere along the line someone mentioned chickens and I started to research and found BYC. What a great site and you guys have got me hooked on raising chickens. I've been looking at everything from coops to nuts and getting real anxious to get going.

Is there anything unique about Colleton County I should be aware of?

I've searched thorough the Learning Center and haven't found much on Colleton County. I called the permit guys and was told they think I 'm ok without a permit to build a coop and have chickens. So far things are going well except for the 5 foot snake that got one of my peeps yesterday.
