Future coop!

Well today after work There was a storm comin so I had to hurry but managed to get the rest of the hardware cloth around the run, a tarp put on 15 foot of it, and made a screen in one of the doors!! tomorrow weather permitting I am going to work on getting the roosts above the nest boxes.....

I love it!! You will need a lot of ventilation, but aside from that, and a higher roost, it looks fantastic!! Our coop is almost done, we just have to put the hardware cloth on the eves, and the chickens will be moved out!!

Oh, and your dane is beautiful!!! I wish I could get mine to like the chickens. She is fascinated by them, but I don't quite trust her. Even my irish wolfhound, who is very animal friendly is not quite trust worthy around the chickens. He just shows a little too much interest right now.

I only wish I had a shed like that to convert into a coop. You are sooo lucky.
I love seeing your dog with the chicks. How did you introduce them to each other?

Thanks!! Well the introduction was when they were in the rubber maid tote in the basement! he would just go over and look at them and smell them.... the chicks were curious and surprisingly aren't afraid of him. The pic is the first time that he was around them out of the brooder box.. he cracks me up though, if one starts to wander off away from the others he goes over and nudges it back with the others.lol He just turned a year old 2 weeks ago I couldn't ask for a better dog!!! Just wish he could control his tail better. That thing is like a whip!

Great Dane, right? I was raised with one and they are the BEST dogs! My dog did daycare and he would watch over all the little kids when they were playing!

I have a little dog now. He is always at the brooder when I am, wagging his tail and whining. We hold the chicks up for him to see and he sniffs and licks them. LOL I'm just not sure what to expect when he is one on one with them. LOL

What a great looking coop. You did a wonderful job.
