Fuzzy's Farm

Another of the JGs chicks is missing. He didn't fall in a water though.....just can't find him...

BUT, I walked in on my EE cross's hatch. I THOUGHT she only had like 4 eggs but it's more like 10.....So far 3 have hatched, 2 are fluffed, 2 are hatching as we speak, and the rest I dunno. The one that hasn't hatched doesn't look so good, she doesn't want him and my dad says I just need to let it work itself out. :( One of the ones that's hatching is doing a good job, the other one's struggling, but again my dad says I shouldn't help. The good news: the 2 fluffed ones are NNs!

I do just like it better when they hide under the porch and show up one day with chicks and I don't worry that some might not have made it out of the egg or died........

I have chicks!
3 of princess's, and cocoa's baby! Idk about the others but out of the 4 of cocoas i hatched this last spring the 2 boys were clean faced and the 2 girls had puffy cheeks.........

Waiting for her to fluff so i can sex her.

2 others have pipped, one a tiny pip and one that has broken through and i say within an hour he'll zip if he follows the others program :)

I been good, i only opened the bator a *crack* twice; once to shove my frosting spatula in to move the carton so cocoa's baby could get unstuck. (I had the hydrogometer too close) and once to quickly grab her once she had dried somewhat and put on a quick band. All i had was a twisty-tie, but i did it quick and trimmed the extra. Don't feel sharp, i pushed that edge so it is round :) (I don't want to confuse them, since she's the one i was after specifically)

Yay babies!!!!!

I have seperated Nugget (wry neck) from all the other chickens. I let all the chickens free range the yard yesterday. He just wasn't looking good. His comb is a purple color and looks dry. He was semi fluffed up. Then the SGs decided it would be a good idea to rough up the weak guy. Boy, did I show them who was boss! I get the pecking order thing, but this was just mean! I can't wait to eat them!
So, Nugget got his own special spot in the garage with a heat lamp. I am not sure he is happy about being away from Noodle but he is warm and safe.

I found a kids playhouse that I want to turn into a coop... BF doesn't want to get it. "Why do we need another coop? We just built one!"
Um cause this one is AWESOME!!!!!

Yeah Fuzzy! I am so happy for you that Cocoa and pluckys last egg hatched for you! And the others too. But I know that one was special.

MsB, your dads right. If the mom is pushing it away, there is something wrong. So, unless you got permission to brood it yourself with at least one other chick or two, leave it to nature.

Shoe girls means black all the way through....

Yeah, I went out to see if the others had hatched okay, and it was dead. I picked it up and looked at it closer and one foot was deformed. it was definitely for the best though. It just made me sad to see her peck him away like that......Again, this is why I like it so much better when they just show up from their hidey holes with a line of chicks and I don't have to worry what happened.......

sounds like serious dehydration. Were they pecking him away from it? Can he tilt right to get fluids in? Dark comb is dehydration or "blue comb" but in this case i am going with needing water. Try some fruit right away if you have any, perhaps between drinking and the fluids he gets when he digests the apple/ whatever will help him.....
