Nova there is no way to block up that hole. My neighbors made me feel bad for "taking care" of racccons. I told a neighbor today and he asked why we didn't take them somewhere else and drop them off... Ummm so they didn't become a problem for someone else... or die of starvation from not knowing how to find food in the woods (which is where he suggested) not to mention it is illegal. The neighbor down the street feeds all the stray cats... and coons... and whatever else, but they still loved to get in my garbage. I was not going to take a chance of them nibbling my chickens!!!
Now if only I could get rid of those cats that stalk my chickens...I fear my neighbors would not like me if we did that.

I had 2 roos that we put down...but we ate both. You had to do what you had to do. You are allowed to feel sad. I still do about mine.

I taught my roo how to make coffee today and he couldn't wait to pour you a cup!

I could't sleep last night, but it was a good reason. Still needed to sleep though, so took a shot. Feel terrible this morn, but nothing coffee won't cure! DH came home last night and got the mail (ours needs a key, i'm still in the apt) and lo and behold was a paper copy of what my workplace sent to the bank................

They gave me the raise already!!! Idk if it's a mistake, i'm not wanting to say anything just in case they take it away!

I am able to stop worrying about the chickens now, and get a bunch of woodchips and a tarp, stock up, start saving for a car. I've been so broke for so long that even going to buy socks sounds exciting right now, lol. Still gonna hit goodwill and look for a trench coat .........yup, cheapskate!

HAPPY tears! But i have to work today, so havta wait till later to spend a dime (monday pay) lol. Gonna be a loooooooooooong day! lol

I am not so sure I want a coffee pouring rooster... The egg tree, is it edible?

Ah, it was a cooooooold morning. I still let the birds out at normal time... just as it was sun up enough that I wasn't so worried about the final critters searching out dinner. So, 7:30 instead of 8:30. I looked out the door, saw all this frost, went back in, grabbed a pitcher of hot water, several bowls, and went on out. It was hot mash this morning. Nope, they didn't finish it though. Guess I made to much. BUT boy were they all excited and happy to go at it. Had to take the ice rings out of the waterers this morning too. I guess it is time to get the mini clamp lights out and start keeping the water thawed at night, then soon through the day. I think I have to get a few new bulbs and clamps too. I have way more birds this winter, so need more waterers.

Yesterday had a hawk, small guy, scare the crap out of the birds. I was making tea, had the sliding glass door open and heard the commotion. I walked out on the deck, everyone was running, so, I ran out the front door, and the hawk was on my roof. It took off pretty quick when I went out there. Went over to the firemans house, then went over to the blueberry field. Guess it figured easier pickings that way. Yup.

This morning I got attacked by Fibber. Instead of him flying his butt down to the ground, he decided my back, since I was in the bent over position, moving the last of the feed out of the bottom of the buckets, he decided to land on my back and head, then take off again from there over the run. Jerk. LOL

we have 4 pekin ducks my boys got them for there birthday back in march they were just lil babys but they are all grown up they stay out all day and never leave our yard they love our pond and they always go back in there pen at night 2 females were laying great eggs but since it got real cold they stopped they are not mean they have always been around kids and they have never walked out of our yard but winter is coming quick and they need to be on a farm where they can get inside they really are good ducks my kids love them but we dont want them to freeze so if you can provide a good place where they can live they are yours please call or text 810-441-5321 begin_of_the_skype_highlighting FREE 810-441-5321 end_of_the_skype_highlighting the 2 females are great layers really good eggs I know I love duck eggs they are in great health come get them

It angers me to no end when folks want them when they're cute & cuddly, but when it comes time to actually have to TAKE CARE OF THEM, they ditch them. But - at least this person is trying to find a good home. The WORST is when you find out people just turn them loose.

Made a HUGE mistake in leaving the hose out on the ground overnight. Yep, frozen. Sigh. It's the time of year again when I need to bring the hose in each evening & take it out with me in the morning or it'll freeze up. Sigh. I love Michigan....usually. Winter time is not my fave, I have to say.

We put our hoses away yesterday...sounds like we did just in time!!!

Morning BYFM , I usually put her in a puppy cut. Sometimes I let her hair grow and will trim for a show look I love her feathering. I find it take more time as I am picky as to how she looks. No stray hairs or tails. She is gorgeous but then comes spring and I cut so cooler for summer. Very heavy coated and grows fast. As a rule I tried to do her every 2 - 3 wks.

Glad Nugget is hanging in there and improving
