Fuzzy's Farm

Stolen birds... O my!... I lock my coop every night... open with a key every morning.

Well, I think everyone enjoyed the shower. Many people said they had never played the games I picked

and that they had fun!
Mom-To-Be (MTB) got lots and lots of goodies to take home!!!

I am worried... My parents are losing their house... My mom says dad doesn't help pay bills... Dad says mom gets all of his money...
Anyway, mom is done paying for the house. She can't afford to do it all by herself anymore. I don't blame her.
Well, my bro and his girl MTB are moving in to my parents house with them... They know my parents are losing the house. They will have a few months there... then what?
I guess my bro has to man up and figure what is best for his family.
I know he will because he is a good guy.
I am sad because it is the house I grew up in. Never really a happy home and my dad was always working on it... but it was my home.

It will be missed.

We had a lice scare over the weekend...
My SIL took my son and I to the doc on Thursday... Called Friday and let us know that they have lice

... So I washed all the bedding and clothing in hot water.
Then, after I was done panicing, I thought about how my son was wearing his hat and his jacket hood... not much chance of him getting it... And I had washed my hair with tea tree oil... and I have no signs of lice (yet)... so I decided not to freak out anymore.
I have had lice too many times in my life. (my cousins had birds and they constantly had lice. Anytime I played with them... I got it)
So far no bugs here!

Peking got the side of his face/ wattle torn. I don't know what happened to it, but it is crusted over with a scab and I plan to leave it alone. I think he will be okay... I will keep an eye on it. Looks like it could be from fighting... I dunno. AND he has started crowing!!! It is a terrible noise...

Now I really have to get rid of those showgirls!!! My neighbors are gonna kill me... 5 roos is too many for one house in this neighborhood...

I believe I am going to keep my two Autralorp roosters! I just had a hawk attack. My first one.
I had been out working in my backyard all afternoon and hadn't seen anything. I came in and was at my computer taking a break.
Thought I was hearing a late afternoon egg song. I realized just two much noise. Looked out the window and thought I say my two roosters fighting with my little SLW and an Orpington in the middle. By time I got all the way down to my coop the roos were still on it. A hawk had grabbed my biggest fattest orp hen and apparently couldn't get off the ground. I had to take my rake to get them off of the hawk I wasn't about to reach down and grab the roos. They earned the cabbage I gave them today.
My hen isn't doing so good though back of head and top of neck is all bloody can't find any other blood, but I had to remove the hawks claws from her. My roos had killed the hawk, good boys!
I put her in a cage and she is laying on her side, with one leg stretched out. I hope she makes it.
I am going to clean up her head and put neosporin on it.
Everyone had scattered into the woods and scrub brush, and I hadn't been able to see if all the girls are here and okay. Will find that out in a couple of minutes as I am on way out to take cake of the hen.

Yikes! That sounds terrible! But, isn't it illegal to kill a bird of prey? Does a rooster killing a hawk even count? I hope your hen will be alright, but you may want to make sure what your boys just did was not illegal.

No, it is not illegal for the roosters to kill the hawk. Poor hen, hope she'll pull through. Backyardfarmmom had the same thing with one of hers, and she was able to pull it through. As for those rooster, definitely keep them boys. Good boys! As for the hawk... well, I guess he won't be bothering your birds. Hope he is hawk heaven having easy prey. Almost feel sorry for the bird. LOL. He just wanted a chicken nugget.

Dang.....those are the roo's to keep by golly. No more missing chickens here. My neighbor on the crossraod a little way down from my house keeps her 2 horses here. No matter what kind of a fence she puts up they will not stay in. Even board fence. They have tried them all. They always come to my house and to the big pasture. Ruby has been here since spring but Shilo is the worst one. I haven't had a bit of trouble keeping Ruby in and my elec fence don't even work. Well a couple days ago Shilo escaped her house and of course came down here. Usually when Shilo is here she stays in also but now she is getting out a couple times a day. Ruby got out with her tonight. I called their owner and told her " Do you really think they would get out if they had some hay to eat ? " Well DUH..... it is November and pasture is gone...Hello !!!! So she brought a round bale down to them. Sheesh, some people.
