Fuzzy's Farm

high stepping- yes, could be irritated foot feathers! My little d'uccles did a high step when their feet feathers started really growing in and they were getting used to them. Sam said he successfully used avon skin-so-soft on his hen? I'd try that if you can't do the permetherin

I am thinking I may need to trim the feathers a bit. I was watching her tonight a bit, and she doesn't seem to be doing it so much today... It was just an odd thing, and you know how I am. I notice right off normally when something is wrong...

I got a headache. I have been taking tylenol and now I started taking arthiriten, seems to work very nice, but one benefit is that I dont' feel the head aches as much. This one though, I think is related to the whole johns a jerk thing. I haven't talked to him at all today. Didn't comment on his not following through, and I did something I should feel guilty about, but I don't. Jace asked why his dad didn't do what he said. I said, you are old enough by now to realise your dad doesn't follow through with anything that is going to inconvenience him.... I shouldn't have said it, but I did. Can't take it back, can't lie and say it wasn't truth. GAH!

All day today i've been packing. Can't stay here, the rent will go up waaaay too much. And we found out today that DH's aunt and uncle next door expect his dad to pay half the electric out there because his shed is hooked up, only thing running is a tiny light and a tiny fridge with no freezer in it! and my de icer; she is asking $80! Wow. I just don't see half when they are running a whole house hold and we are only running a few appliances and not much else?

So gonna get a move on moving my birds to my mom's, and we are pulling the electric from out there. 2 birds, so to speak :)

I have to go and lock up the coop. I hope the neighbors chickens have found their way out of my garage and coop. I went to meijer and picked up a bag of collards, 2 cucumbers and a cheap loaf of wheat. I fed everyone, threw it all over the run so it's there to pick through. OH, also a cheap box of raisins. Anyway, I went in the house to get 2 jugs of water, came back out through the garage, and there were more birds of the RIR, than I have... I don't have RIR, i have NH, but I had to do a double take, then I realised there was a BO and a GLW that was not mine. LOL, ok, what ever. I walked out of the garage and the neighbor girls followed me to the run, and joined in the feast. LOL, Going so far as to even chase around my little cockerels. That is funny too. LOL. Anyway, hope they went home, or they are staying the night. Good thing I have roost up in the run they can set on. LOL. Hey Carl, you missing any birds? LOL.

I'd keep that fat BO in a heart beat, she's so pretty and sweet. LOL

No. Oddly enough it smelled kind of like chicken soup, but kind of chemically and sweetened.

IDK, but the smell of it just made me feel like

Yuck, Tee! I really hope you are feeling better. The flu is NO fun!
I don't have any yet, I'm waiting for my chicken coop to arrive. I'm not sure what kind yet, I want laying hens about 12 and a rooster. We live in south Mississippi so it gets very hot here in the summer. I was going to get pullets but everyone keeps saying how much fun it is to raise baby chicks... Sooo??? Any input will be appreciated!!
Hi and Welcome, Savannah. I'm in Oklahoma in a forest by a lake so know all about heat and predators. We got our girls at 2 days old and had the best fun ever raising them. They are now super friendly because they have been handled so much. I so agree with Nova about the dust in the house. I put our brooder in our library as I could shut the door easily to that room. That was last March and I'm still vacuuming dust - LOL! But it was nice that we could run in anytime and look at them.
My bad it's 7 by 7 and is gonna be off ground.. My sister told me it's plenty big for a dozen or so chickens? It's got a lil ramp that comes out of house, then it all fenced in outside. With top covering. So I should dig a trench to put the fencing down in around all perimeters?
Again, I so agree with Nova. Yes bury the fencing and then top your run with netting or other fencing. Even then something can usually get in, especially raccoons. Probably the most important lesson we learned was to shut the girls up tight every night inside the coop. The two hens we lost were due to our own mistakes of not shutting the coop or leaving one outside by accident. Love, love, love my girls.

Too funny, Nova. You can have an entirely new flock. Oh, my BO's are fat and sweet also. We will probably get 2 more in the spring.

Fuzzy, I hope you can get everything moved okay. Wish I could help as I'm a good mover.

BYFM, I can recommend a couple of really good books on writing web content if you do get that job.

Hey Rusty and Silver. Hope you guys are feeling much better!

DH is cooking tonight as it was my first class of the semester. He's so sweet! I've got a really good group of students I think although one woman came in my office and told me she has ongoing seizures. Second student I've had with seizure issues - one had seizures almost every class period. I felt so sorry for her. I'm so impressed she's going back for her masters regardless.

Wow that's really expensive for that little bit of electricity. Sounds like you are subsidizing them...

First class huh Gigi? A friend of mine, her kid has constant seizures too. She's in denial, the kid, not the mother, and refuses on ocassion to take her meds. Keeps telling her doc she is. She's just afraid she'll lose her licence. Kinda feel bad for the kid, well she ain't a kid anymore. She's in her young 20's mother of 2... About your student though, good to see that she's not letting it get the best of her.

I think fuzzy's DH family sure likes to take advantage... Heck, with john here, his computer, tv, heater running, not to mention lights chargers for tablets and laptops... it hasn't had that much of a noticeable effect on our bill. Not no 80 bucks worth. Maybe 15.

Anyway... nite all... I have no new birds to add... bummer, not really. LOL.

Have a good night. Glad the finger is working Gigi, you need it to point at things while you are teaching. LOL

Thanks, Gigi. The nap helped the headache, at least, but my tummy is the same.

You know, I put together a chicken soup in the crock pot thinking a homemade one would be better to have than cup of soup, but the smell of it is making feel like

. I think fuzzy's right and I need to break away from the chicken soup since every time I smell it (or think I smell it) now, I feel icky.

Fuzzy, hope the move goes smoothly for you.

Have a good night all.

Oy!
I have been weeding through my things since before i got this job, and even so i had so much that i got rid of. DH just carted 2 full trash bags out for me, and that's not including the donation stuff. !!! Most of what i have is just very old. Not working for 3 years i hung on to EVERYTHING because i couldn't replace it, now i'm starting over bit by bit. :)
He got worried and pushed some food at me, i have been working most of the day trying to NOT let memories make me hang on to misc. stuff. Even old ratty coats, reminded me of my birds i lost. Old clothes i wore during different times in the last couple years, memories attached........ Papers that were important at one time, but not needed anymore.........Pictures to remind me of what a nerd i've been...........lol

I hope that this is a good thing for he and i, we get a little space to think about what is and isn't working. No hard feelings, just doing what has to be done for the situation. This will be the first time for him having his own place all to himself, should be good for him :) We'll likely stay together, just not live together so we aren't going nuts!
