Fuzzy's Farm

drat. i wish i was closer, i'd bring you some! Just got back from my feed mill to get straw and ivermectin.

I'll wait until tomorrow to worm them though, supposed to hover around zero tonight!!! I haven't medicated yet, i want to worm first. With all this uber cold weather i haven't dared to give them anything, for fear of over stressing their bodies!!! Hopefully this paste will take care of their lice too, i have hated seeing them sooo itchy! They aren't really bad, i can't find any by just doing a quick look. I have seen one on my rooster though, so gotta get to getting on those things!!! Darn neighbor doesn't worm/ de-lice his, and i think his roo that came around a month ago must've given them to mine. :/

I'd need to get hens from you too when you have them available Robin. I'll even take straight run, you have no Idea, I get what I get chicks. LOL. But sure. I could use one.

I don't blame you for not wanting to drive.

Rusty, glad your hubby made it home safe. I know how that kinda snow is. I used to deliver papers in hamilton in the middle of the night. Hamilton is nothing but country, and BOY was I glad to have one of them monster type cars that went through everything. LOL. Well, almost, and I always had a shovel. Pontiac 6000, Buicks, Cutlass's... Great route cars...All the late 80's early 90's models were/are. Then I was glad of the jeep. Oh yeah. My first jeep was a cherokee...not a cherokee, but what it was called before it was renamed cherokee... Loved that thing. WENT THROUGH EVERYTHING! Never had a problem with it, never got stuck. Sold it when it has 300k on it, and then the next person drove it another 50k until the coolant fan literally fell out. LOL. The jeep I have now is the same, only I do believe if I still am driving it next winter, I best get my locks redone. The 4x4 is still working, but sounds like they are breaking down. Darn age... LOL

Anyway... We have family movie night at jace's school tonight. going to see Wreck It Ralph... never seen it.

that's what i saw the other day, then warm then rain? But tonight is supposed to be cold.

Gotta jet, i want to get the hay swapped out on the way home. That old stuff is too bad for me, i think it's getting ammonia to it. I'm glad we are getting more daylight, it really helps with getting stuff done and improving moods!

:)

Hi Robin!

Snow! Wish it would come down here. We did get a tiny bit of rain yesterday - Woot!

Coop cleaning day here. It's beginning to smell. I found a recycling bin in our building at school. You should have seen me half in, half out digging for shredded paper. But I have a big plastic bag full so am going to try it in the coop nests. Thank goodness I had late classes last night and it was 11pm when I was hauling my shredded paper across campus so no one saw the "bag lady" - ha. The only thing I worry about is the ink on it when it decomposes in the compost pile...

I've wanted Hamburgs but have worried about them being a tad aggressive. Is that true?

Morning Rusty

My hamburgs are not aggresive. The roo only is with other roos, like any of them are. :)
I don't blame you for not attempting it. That was my worry for DH. He just barely made it home from work this morning. He did okay til he got to our road. No plows only one track from someone's truck. He said the snow was as high as the car's grill and if someone had been coming from the opposite direction there would've been a problem because moving over wasn't an option.
Well, here on the East Wing it is in BFE and the snow plows never get to us right away.
short but rough day at work today. Had to give barium to and xray a very energetic golden retriever. Got a smashed hand out of the deal- and I believe if I ever tried wearing these tennishoes through the xray scanner at the airport, I would be arrested.

Im out of grower chick feed. I plan on using the layer crumbles and egg food for parrots/songbirds until I can get to a feed store. They are far away, and Dink is working on his truck- its out of commission for a few days. So, unless one of you want to bring me feed, thats all I have.

Our schools were closed- I think they jumped the gun/ we mainly had ice. not much of it, and about two inches of snow.
Hope those of you that were harder hit are doing ok.
I would bring you food if'n you were a td bit closer.

Ok, so what color ? In Silkie Roos I have extra white ones, a black one, & a buff one. The buff one was hatched out late last fall, the others were hatched out last spring. The buff one is still in the heated brooder house.

Hi Robin!

Hi Kim

My understanding is that the ink usd now is non toxic and biodegradable. I've used shreded paper for several years, and not seen any ink in soil. I do not shred slick/smooth magazines or paper though. Not good for soil.
Thanks, Bob. I'm cleaning the coop tomorrow so am going to use it. Free bedding! What a deal!
