Fuzzy's Farm

Hi guys :)

Bob, i make saddles. No hen hats though, thought that would be funny and made a logger's hat with the fuzzy ear flaps for my roo once, took a pic. :D Not anything "real" that would stay on though.

Mom, just DO IT!

Nova, i hope this passes quick! Sounds nasty. Thought about visiting, but after this, nah!

As to the various thoughts on the hair and tats, i agree that it was offensive and shouldn't have been allowed to go on. :( That wasn't just standard grousing, it was all out dislike. :( The individuals that were corncob in the rear though are always that way to me, anyway so i just chalked it up to their personality. I'm kinda a pain when offended, made me wanna go to the chickenstock even more! I don't have any tats or piercings, no crazy hair but maybe i'll pick up some of those cheap little kid's colored funky hair extensions just to make a point. LOL. Trailerpark tacky, LOL. Tired of those guys. Every since i said my chickens got sick, i've been cold shouldered. Then when i said i cleaned my coops every few days with bleach (hey they got sick naturally, not 'cause their kept nasty ) they have been studiously ignoring me or outright disagreeing with every thing i post, ESPECIALLY for when i play devil's advocate and tell new posters their treatment options should they treat and not put down. Not for everyone, but i know i'm not the only pet chicken keeper and it frustrates me that people on that thread are pushed talk about their birds stricktly livestock-ish, or get "the treatment". Not cool. Then i direct a new chicken keeper guy friend of mine over there, and once he says hi to me now they basically ignore him too. Bull * .
They don't ever acknowledge I exist on the MI thread. Don't bother me any cause I know I have waaay more knowledge than most of them. I figure it is their loss not mine.

And yes, I still have my Orloffs. I only have a Roo and 2 hens so I am going to hatch more out lol.

I think I need a vacation from screaming demons...

I put the boys up on CL. I know I should just take them to process, but I just don't feel like it. I put Pat the Rat up too. Hoping some kiddo would like him for 4h. We'll see. AND I put up Roger Jr too. I know... BUT I can not breed him. He's not got good wings at all. AND Come on, it's his sister... ew.

Here's a question for you all. I went out to the coop tonight and there was a dead possum on the side of it. It had all of it's insides eaten out. Would that be a coon or one of the barn cats?

I agree with Nova, Savannah. I only add chickens in the dark and always in a group so no one is low hen on the totem pole but has friends to hang with. I'm getting more baby chicks tomorrow and they will go into the brooder with everyone else but there are 6 of them so the pecking order will be diluted.

dog... coon... not cat

Well, I wanted to step in and say night. ALSO Gigi, do you have an anthropology dept at your school? If I sent you a few pics of somethings that I have, do you think someone might be able to say what they are? To me they are like stamps or something... my gran dug them up in mexico, she was a big time rock hound, got them before I existed, so they are at the least 40 years in the family...

No, Nova, my university doesn't have one. I think only the U of Ok has one in this state and I don't know anyone there. Have you searched pics on the internet? You could send the pics and I'll see what I can find. Our library has some cool databases.

Hi guys. Not much going on here today. Yesterday i ordered one of those overpriced coops from TSC though :) The brown one, they all average the same 3 1/2 x 5 1/2 footage but i like that one. Going to be my house coop. :) I wanted to build one, probably could have done it cheaper but i figure the best way to show a potential landlord that i'm going to be a clean renter with my "exotic pet" is to have fancy digs. ???? It's not set in stone, don't HAVE to buy but i have it ordered anyway. Things are moving fast for me and i want to be prepared.

On the CL add birds, Nova, are you grouping any pullets with your roos? I was also thinking that you could do like i do; i cheat and instead of bringing my girls to the auction i go and yap with the customers. Get a feel for who i'm talking with, and how good a keeper they would be without them realizing that i may be a bird-giver. There is on average about 3 hens to 10 roos for sale there, and this time of year the place is jammed with folks looking for pullets/hens! So lots of overinflated pullet prices and dissapointed customers. I won't bring mine and chance that they end up in a trash sack, but cheating this way lets me peek at what's for sale and vet my customers. :) Both of my rehomed hens were done this way. I won't charge for a good home, and the orpington i only charged a tiny price because i was broke and i had to cover the cost of buying Henry...

So i guess the short version of the story is do you want to go to the auction with me Sat? Not to buy but to look and to network as they say? Sometimes Randy is there too, selling chicks. Idk though since the auction changed hands it's a different crowd and us that are more sentimental don't like to be there, but on the other hand he still has to sell chicks......... so perhaps.
