Fuzzy's Farm

I think Gigi needs to make a trip to Lansing on Jun 21, stay over nite and join us at Chickenstock. HEHE What would your students think to have their teacher come back from a weekend trip with blue hair? HEHE

So... when would be the best time to ship eggs? AND Robin, if I get some eggs shipped, they'll be Pheonix, can I sucker you into bating them for me? I think I'll ask for 2 dozen just so I can get a hopeful 12 hatch.
When do you plan on getting these eggs ? I talked to Randy yesterday and when his Orloff's start laying I am buying hatching eggs from him. I am buying Orloff eggs and Lemon Cuckoo Marans eggs from him and then I talked to a lady up by him and I will be buying 2 dozen Paint Silkie eggs from her. Gonna have all kinds of babies here LOL. But, I have a cabinet incubator that holds around 300 eggs plus I have 3 small incubators so incubating won't be a problem. If you want you can borrow an incubator. I have the turners with all of them too and they are all forced air. So that is an option for you also.

for saying you arent going to tell me.

Doesnt matter- someone else did. Actually, someone elses- told me. SO, that being said, I am just going to pretend I didnt read anything. That particular has always been very very nice to me and mine- so Im just gonna Continue being tatted and taking my pink and purple kids with me- OH NO- WHAT DAY IS IT THIS YEAR>??????????????????????
I have a wedding to go to on either June 22 or 29th. I got a card in the mail that said "save the date" and I didnt save the date.It may be on the 21st. Big stupid gala affair with all the bells and whistles that I cant get out of. darn. Anyway, I plan on being at chickenstock if its not the wedding day- with my pink and purple pierced kid and my tattoo kid. If it is on the same day, can we rebels plan a party at Nova's or Robins or even y'all come this way and we will crash BYFMs? SOMETHING???????

I have a funeral to go to this week. :(
Long sad story- dont feel much like typing it. But please- dont post condolences to me, because it isnt my loss- its my first husbands uncles' mother. I havent seen her in over ten years but I was once part of the family and still part of part of the family so I am showing up to show my respect.

I looked like a Savage yesterday at the grocery store. I did major yard work and was completely muddy- hair was windblown and NOT in a ponytail- all blown out insane. AND we had nothing for dinner and we were out of toilet paper- so, a mom has to do what a mom has to do...I went out in public looking crazed. I truly expected to run into some hot guy from my past. Thankfully that didnt happen. But I wont be surprized if I end up being in one of those "People of Walmart" videos.

Know what happens when you have a bunch of male quail trying to outcrow/call each other? It sounds like they are saying "You B**ch" over and over in my backyard.

We put a green screen-type tarp across the shadow-box privacy fence on the the new neighbor side of the backyard. Those new neighbor kids were hitting my trumpet vines with sticks on Saturday- really whacking at them. I waited to see if a parent was going to yell at them, but that didnt happen. So, I tore almost all of them down yesterday. Made me really sad to do it- however, i would be MORE sad if everything was growing beautifully and they were whacking at them and killed them then. Now I wont see that- and I just have to watch them grow again. Because I continue to be a rebel and illegal, I cant yell at them like I would like to do. I really AM the crabby lady who wants to scream at kids to "get off my lawn" but I really want to bring my chickens back. I miss them. I did tell the kids "DONT HIT THE FENCE" in my scariest witch-next-door-voice, however.

That said- I have TWO rooster gonna-bes. Both frizzle Chickenlittle spawn. One is white with some black and one is black and white. They are five weeks old. Robin, as always, my wonderful Robin, will find them a home for me- but if any of you want little frizzle genes in your flock.....

I have a Manager's meeting today. Once again, I have nothing prepared and am going to have to wing it. Again. If I have a chance, I will throw something together, but I do believe I am working alone until noon- and the meeting is at one, so I wont have time. That makes three months in a row, that I have had to fake it. There is never enough time when the higher-ups think one person can do the work of three.
I need to make a doctor appointment. Do any of you know what kind of disease I may have? My ribs on my right side have been KILLING me for about three months. As in, they hurt. Cant touch my right side. And when I try to sleep- I wake up in SO much pain like I have slept on a brick. And it is starting to affect daily life. I havent gone to the doctor for it (stop yelling at me, Robin) because I have this stupid cough- and I dont want the doctor to say its from coughing-- because it started before the cough. So, I am waiting for the cough to go away so the doctor doesnt blow me off. I didnt fall, I didnt get whacked in the rib cage. I have no physical reason for them to hurt so badly. Anyhow, it makes me pretty crabby.

I have written a novel here. Be proud, Nova. :) I have to shower now and get ready for work. You all have a wonderful day. Enjoy the weather- if it is still nice out and not snowing- havent checked the forecast. This weekend was very nice. :)
Kim - Get your butt to the Dr. If it was one of the kids you would have already had them there !!! Don't take away from yourself. I don't have many friends and want to keep the ones I do have LOL.

I have a few questions.
Background first; we had chicks hatch Aug 21, 2012. From that hatch we have 2 welly pullets and a roo. we had 7 other roos that we got rid of. At the time of hatch we had 3 hens. As the roos matured they pecked two of the hens quite badly about the head. I thought cutting down to one roo would eliminate the excessive damage to the hens. Not So ! Feathers grew back for awhile, however, Rufus has been worse lately. The pullets are losing some and the only hen not damaged before, a BO, was hiding under the hen house today with a comb sorta torn at the posterior end and bleeding quite a bit. The wound is treated.

Are Welly roos particularly mean? or is it just this one. Robin?
Anyone want a red rooster?
Anyone have a hen saddle or 3 for sale?
Are there hen head helmets for protection?

I don't want to simply kill him. He is beautiful.

Hi Bob - I have 3 Welsummer roos and not a single one of them is like that. Maybe put him in his own pen for awhile ?

TC - Good luck with the surgery.

Tc good luck today with surgery! Speedy recovery to you! And bob I'm new at chickens, but you may have to get rid of old mean rooster? I have one I named Ole Sam, you may of seen his pic on here? Nova posted it for me!( thank you Nova ) but he's a real beautiful rooster. I have a problem with him also. He only has one hen ( Miss Prissy ) a white leghorn in with him... But he's mean to her also and has tried to get me a few times! I have a plastic rod I take in with me to keep him back when I go in their pen! Miss Prissy was alone because other hens pecked her so I put her by herself, then found Ole Sam in town from lady at feed store for her, but he's mean to her too.. My husband keeps saying Ole Sam would make a good pot of Chicken Gumbo! But I'm with you couldn't kill him, but I sure could find him a new Home!!! Lol good luck, have great day everyone!

Hi guys :)

Bob, i make saddles. No hen hats though, thought that would be funny and made a logger's hat with the fuzzy ear flaps for my roo once, took a pic. :D Not anything "real" that would stay on though.

Mom, just DO IT!

Nova, i hope this passes quick! Sounds nasty. Thought about visiting, but after this, nah!

As to the various thoughts on the hair and tats, i agree that it was offensive and shouldn't have been allowed to go on. :( That wasn't just standard grousing, it was all out dislike. :( The individuals that were corncob in the rear though are always that way to me, anyway so i just chalked it up to their personality. I'm kinda a pain when offended, made me wanna go to the chickenstock even more! I don't have any tats or piercings, no crazy hair but maybe i'll pick up some of those cheap little kid's colored funky hair extensions just to make a point. LOL. Trailerpark tacky, LOL. Tired of those guys. Every since i said my chickens got sick, i've been cold shouldered. Then when i said i cleaned my coops every few days with bleach (hey they got sick naturally, not 'cause their kept nasty ) they have been studiously ignoring me or outright disagreeing with every thing i post, ESPECIALLY for when i play devil's advocate and tell new posters their treatment options should they treat and not put down. Not for everyone, but i know i'm not the only pet chicken keeper and it frustrates me that people on that thread are pushed talk about their birds stricktly livestock-ish, or get "the treatment". Not cool. Then i direct a new chicken keeper guy friend of mine over there, and once he says hi to me now they basically ignore him too. Bull * .

Oh and Robin, don't you still have orloffs? Did you get rid of them?

I think i need a name for my stuff at some point. I want to make aprons and chicken stuff; now i have the money to get supplies, but not the time. Even if i downsize my birds to move, i'm still a chicken girl and i've been thinking that there needs to be someone local to make nice diapers and saddles, perhaps some shabby chick farmhouse inspired chicken-ey remakes from goodwill to decorate with? I'm very good at that kind of stuff. Haven't had the money for supplies until now, so haven't been able to play. I always get all these creative ideas, at some point i need to go with it! :)

so that's that. Not a farm name, but a homey chicken girl name :D

Savannah... Prissy is going to get hurt from over mating if she's the only one with Sam and can't get away...

I was wondering if someone could nab Gerard Butler for me and deliver him tied up with a bow?

Robin, Mid-late April. I think it would be quite fun to try bating...

Hey Fuzzy!

Well, you can't put in one hen. You need to put in two hens. What happens is, you put the new hen in and she's now on the bottom of the pecking order, she has no friend. That's why they say never to just add one new hen. That hen will then be bullied by all the other hens. When you add 2 hens, then she's got a buddy right from the get go see...
