Fuzzy's Farm

I'm still here! Lol.. I've been outa pocket not feeling good! My little Agnus now has 8 eggs, and makes such a ruckus when I try to get eggs from her that I've given up! Lol! She stole another from Sister yesterday, I only have 2 hens in this pen Nova, plus the bantam rooster? Tried to mark eggs ,butttt... She's not in so I'm thinking of just leaving her alone and see what comes of it until chicks hatch ( or don't) she's very funny, I didnt think such a young pullet would go broody that quick? She's only gotten her tail feather since I got her a couple months ago! Guess chickens grow up faster than I thought? Hope everyone is good... And Nova the pictures of the hen setting on other hen on eggs is sooo funny! My other hens are all laying good. Been averaging 5 to 9 eggs outa 9 big hens, my other set of bantams the white set she was laying daily but now that Agnus has went broody she's not laying? The pens are beside each other, is that why? Or???

Simple fact... If you do not mark the eggs, you will end up with part developed babies that won't hatch. You need to mark them. Put on your big girl pants and just do it. She ain't gonna kill ya. Throw her off the nest for a minute. She will grumble and witch like nothing you ain't never seen, drop a poop bomb like you have never smelled, and get back on the nest. In other words, stop being chicken of that chicken.

So funny, Nova. Well at least they are keeping each other warm - LOL!

Hey everyone! Well I've missed you all. I have been sooo sick got bronchitis really having difficulty breathing, back on nebulizer inhalers, antibiotics!
Hey Savannah! I hope you are feeling better. Not being able to breathe is no Fun! Get well fast!

Dead lately ain't the word for it...
Nope, not dead. Just busy and not even on much. Between goats, chickens and chicks and cleaning closets (it's spring break so my goal is to get caught up on this houses - it's so out of control - not like it ever was in control ... ha)

So I took the babies off paper towels yesterday. The youngest are almost a week old but they could mess up new paper in just minutes. Put them on large pine shavings and everyone was picking at it like crazy. I'm hoping I don't lose any of them to eating shavings. What do you guys use? I think I'm moving them out to their coop pen in another week as the brooder is just too small for 15 girls even though it's two of the largest plastic tubs with their ends cut out and joined with duck tape. The youngest will be 2 weeks old and it's getting warmer outside but still down into the 40's at night. I figure with a brooder lamp going and the warmth from all the big girls that the coop will be fine. The small coop is right next to the big girls coop - just separated by hardware cloth...

So this thread has been just about dead.

I got the feeling that everyone must be posting at a different thread- and my invite mustve gotten lost in the mail. So I started looking and lo and behold....

Once again..... I don't know what is going on. What did I miss?
