Well, I grew up with a single mom and four sisters, women don't scare me.

Where is everyone?

I went to go let my birds out a while ago, and that darn hawk was out and about flying from tree to tree between my house, the neighbor across the street and then Carls... making the rounds... My poor chickens are feeling the 'unloved' bit right now... BUT they are safe and that is the important thing to me...

Don't get in trouble being stealthy. This forum can become very addictive! There are so many threads of great learning value, and a lot of threads of fun, and then you also have threads like this one... Some things to learn, a lot of BSing and fun. We've actually managed to not get into trouble on this thread for a change. LOL. But we have a nice group of ladies here who can be helpful and are willing to share what we know. And on occassion pull your leg.

So, are you looking into strait up production birds or are you going to look into dual purpose birds? I have only 2 birds that are considered production birds. I have 6 ornamental birds and then... I have a bunch of dual purpose. Those are the ones that are fairly good egg layers, but the cockerels when grown with the intent to process for sunday dinner, are good dinners. I have a few hens that LOVE to be mommies, so I am always having a few chicks around that will eventually be egg producers or Sunday dinner.

This is such a sad day, today. I just lost my sweet hen Chessie. The stupid, stupid dogs killed her! Gosh, if only I had a freaking shotgun!!!!!! They are FIFTEEN YEARS OLD!!! They should have died years ago! I am sorry for ranting, but I wish my younger age would stop preventing me from saving those that I love! I would happily ship those dogs off to a pound where they could be euthanized!

Sorry for the rant.

we have a dog i would like to ship off bc anytime she gets out she goes straight for the birds but she is DD baby and that makes it hard !!!

2-3 hours of grocery shopping today has me exhausted !!! ANd two hours tonight volunteering at the school is gonna kill me lol so tired but of course i never sleep well when i know i have to be up early and have a long day ahead of me ... hows everyone doing today ?
