Fuzzy's Farm

no way to decrow without killing him. they have vocal folds not chords. :(
It can / has been done, but most vets feel about that about the same as declawing a cat :( very traumatic for the poor critter, not a good thing. Probably need a very expensive avian vet, too.

Poor little, poor you. You need to just start buying adult hens, with your luck run. Sorry, mom.

Hey, there, everyone!

Hehe; I have a feeling that my dog, Sadie, probably won't be messing around with the chickens a whole lot anymore. The rooster that I said was mean, well, in a desperate attempt to save him, I have convinced my parents to give me 2 weeks to get him in his place or it's the shotgun for him. I have been holding him all morning long. Through school, through break-time, now I am fixing to eat lunch, which means he will stay here in my room.

Anyways, while he has been standing in my room, Sadie has been very curious about him. Poor pup, all she did was sniff him and he went nuts. She sniffed his wing and he literally turned around, flared his hackle feathers and bit her right on the nose. And he wouldn't let go. This is the second time, now, and Sadie is seriously freaked out by chickens, now. Lol. I guess this is a good lesson for her to learn.

Speaking of Sadie, she is only 8 months old and already in heat.

I read that they can come into heat anywhere between 6 to 16 months old, so I guess this is not the most impossible thing to happen here at our house. But still, I think it's pretty darned crazy. She is bleeding all over our beds and I fear taking her for walks since I don't want to lead a male dog to our house, with all the urinating that she does while we walk. So I just play with her and walk her around the yard. And I supervise her very closely when she is outside by herself. There is no way I will let her get pregnant. We don't have the money to spay her. I hate money, sometimes.

That's what I was telling you on the phone the other night. Unless he is going to keep them in a glass house then he will be continually killing his birds !!!!
Now we all know why I can't stand the little jerk !!! That plus what he done with the other animals. No use for someone like him.
Check with me before you get a roo. I have several extras.
I did NOT know you had buff. I have buff also. I have buff, black, white, blue, partridge, and splash :)
They are both dead... Leila got killed when the raccoon got in and killed her and the babies, and left Roger to raise the last 3 wyandottes alone... Then Roger got killed. YES, I would gladly take any color roo. I am so much in a care about getting certain colors. I quite liked the surprise I got from Vanilla and Roger... 4 different color chicks!

bred or not, their risk of developing cancer is greatly increased with each heat they go into. And thats bred or not.

I didnt know Stan- but then again, Im a hermit and only come here. I will say that I truly do miss Sam, though.

I am greatly depressed by this whole Chicken Little is a boy thing. SO, nobody better be bartering roos behind my back- Ive got some that need a home. Showgirl roo and Serama and a Silkie if it crows.
