Fuzzy's Farm

Gigi, sorry, for got earlier, sorry about your hen. I hope you gave your hubby a verbal smack upside the back of his head. LOL.
.
Thanks, Nova. We were both pretty upset. I didn't have to say anything to him except that she'd been left out - he felt really bad. We've only lost 2 hens and both were to our own error. I went out to the run tonight and there was a huge possum inside. He comes in where the aviary netting circles the tree. I chased him off but I'm pretty sure he's the one that killed Buffy. We'll get the electrical fencing up and running tomorrow and set up a live trap. Makes me so mad at myself as we have everything predator proof except us - human error is our downfall.

I think it is a good thing to have multiple sources for these sorts of things. Some people do not have the benefit of a farm vet to get them, and some you can't get from the store. Like LS 50. Tylan powder( Both of which are used to treat MG, MS, CRD) is also a pain in the butt to get from the store if they even carry it, but you can get it off that website as well as other, or order it from a farm store that will order it. BUT then you have to wait longer for them to get it, and by then, you may be dealing with an even greater problem... They also have a penicilin that goes in the water...

This morning before I went to work, I went and took a looksee around the coop to see what tracks were in the snow. One dear, cat, rabbit, and I am pretty sure an oppossum. No raccoon tracks.

Neighbors got their plastic up today. Andrew, the kid, heads back to CA on the 1st. Then he is off to the UK for 3 months with his school. Carl is getting his work done while he is home, took the week off to do it. They also hung a heat light in the run, secured 3 ways, to keep the water thawed that they are putting in the run. Some bug also killed 2 of their birds this last week. The girls were just looking lethargic and had the poops. They've all been wormed. Pretty sure that was/is the problem. No sneezing or swelling in the faces.

don't do the penecillin in the water, i read that it is downright terrible on their stomach! I wanted to do that instead of inject cocoa, but was strongly advised against it.

I kind of want the tylan powder, but i also want the danaguard too.

Did you ever try the grapefruit seed extract? I got desperate last winter and took seeds from grapefruits and minced them (they are soft like a nut) The birds ate them up, i gave my banty cochin 3 of them 2 days in a row and she was a whole lot improved. The bigger birds weren't but i couldn't give them much more because the grapefruits didn't have many seeds in them. Go figure, the one time you want seeds........

Now i can buy things i may look for the citricidal again
