Nova... your pic search results have scarred me...

I do have to say that they do send food with the kids and we share the food we buy too... (can't let one 3yo eat one thing and make the other eat something else) However, we buy healthier food for our son and ourselves... It seems they like to send junk to our house. They send boxes of mac n cheese... their son NOR my son will eat it. I have sent boxes back many times and told them that if I make it (which I do not) I have to force him to eat it. I do not want to force a kid to eat something I would not want to eat. It is junk.
My family likes the frozen mac n cheese (no preservatives) and they all eat that up like mad!
Yes, sometimes I have the older 2, and no they do not pay me extra.
They bring the kids over sick... unless one have vomited.
I really got to thinking about the money situation when I told them I had a nephew on the way and was thinking about watching him for my new SIL
and the dad responded "Yeah, and you could give them a family discount... Like $100 a week..."
He seemed rather pleased with his suggestion... THAT IS WHAT HE IS PAYING PER KID (usually)
Nova... I could do a shift after BF gets home but he does apt maint and goes on call... I would have to make sure I was not scheduled when he is on call.
I don't want DS to go to daycare... I worked in a daycare... got so sick after the flu went through 3 times and couldn't work one day... they fired me.
We are looking into pre-school for this fall.
I thought the whole gig was temporary until they could find a new sitter to come to their house... Another friend volunteered to do so... but she would have to bring her kids too and that would mean that some days up to 8 kids would be in their 2 bedroom apt!!! I really thought they would find someone else (but why would they with such a great deal? No dishes at their house. No mess after work. No electric bill for the whole day, just at night.)
I know they were doing me a favor by letting me have some income while staying home and I am doing them a favor by providing a safe place for their kids...
I feel greedy. I feel cheated.
If I can make it until she goes on maternity leave...DS could start pre school by then... and I can make pizzas or something... IDK!!!
BFYM, I agree with Nova. You are doing them a service and they are taking advantage of your doing it for a discounted price from what they would have to pay otherwise. With times the way the are and the cost of living rising every day, they can hardly expect you to continue providing for their children at the same financial level as before. Can I ask, are they going to pay extra once the new one comes? Not only that, but do you take care of the older two at all like on days when there is no school or they're sick? Do they give you any extra then? I know it can be hard to find extra money to pull from your wallet, but if they were at an established daycare, they would have no choice and would be paying more anyway. They are quite frankly trying to bully you along with the guilt trip. I say good luck to them at finding someone to care for their kids at the same price and care that you do.
