Fuzzy's Farm

No I haven't found a place. Still making plans to build an aviary indoor coop and keep baby hope as a house chicken. Trying to make decisions as to who is going to be kept with her, still trying to get the d'uccles hen and booted girl to hang with my maurice . Today i got the trio into the same cage and when i left out the girls were still being cool, so hoping!!!!

I stopped by the ravenna auction today, about a dozen girls one white silkie hen and another tiny hen. LOTS of people looking for pullets! One of the roosters was an orloff, wanted him badly. Definitely an intelligent breed! I DO think my cocoa was mixed with this breed, a lot of the body language and vocals were similar. Someone in the area is apparently breeding them, don't know enough about the breed to tell quality though. AND i promised Robin i'd adopt from her if i did any orloff adopting :) Beautiful and gentle breed :)

Hi all.
Came home from work to find no one let the chickens out today. Not happy about that, but apparently DH thought it was too cold for them. Um, ok, it was quite cold this morning, but they could've still been let out even if it was a few hours later. Geesh.

Happy Birthday, Mom2

Wooohooo Congratulations are in order - I just installed my first dishwasher. AND it's working. I'm so proud - LOL! Darned if I was going to pay Lowes $125 for an installation when there are all these youtube videos on how to do it. It actually wasn't that hard. I'm thinking a lot of the stuff we pay for is a big racket for someone.

Mom2 - if you can rescue some of your old gravel or get to a pet store to buy some aquarium bacteria you'll be a lot better off. New water has to cycle until bacteria build up in either the filter or the gravel. That bacteria keeps the water from getting yucky. Cycling can take up to 2 weeks. People clean their aquariums too often sometimes and destroy all the good stuff. I kept a 300 gallon aquarium for 15 years - hardly every changed water, just drained it down and added new if I was having cycling problems.

You might get one goldfish to throw in your new water. Their waste helps water cycle quicker. But goldfish are really hard to keep because they poop sooooo much so don't get more than one in that size tank. It's hard to get a small aquarium (20 gal or under) to cycle properly sometimes. It's much easier the larger the tank. This is one area where I'm a fair expert - ha.

Hi Gigi! For giggles I had been watching some 'Jubilee Orpington' eggs on the net. 14 of them went for $177.00 and the another 3 went for $76.00 Holy cow if I spent that much on shipped eggs I think DH would ship me out! LOL

Hey, guys...

I need some hugs. I am really sad right now. My mom has to go to work tonight, and she wasn't in a good mood. She said, "I guess no one's gonna fold the towels for me while I'm gone." and I said "What towels?" because I didn't see any. Her reactions from then on were really uncalled for.

She grabbed her purse, and her workbag, slung them onto her shoulder, and glared at me before marching out the door, and slamming the door behind her.

I don't even know what I did wrong...

It's really kinda painful to think that she's leaving me like this, and it's even worse to think that she might get in a wreck or something and that could be the last time I see her.

Why...?

Well, I was wonder stupid today. I have to work tonight, so I figured today would be the perfect day to rake out the straw from both sides of the run. It was funny when everyone thought I was done with them for the day, went up to roost, then I sneaked in and closed the coop door on the roosters and cockerels, a few girls were still out, and opened up the faverolles side so I could clean in there and let them enjoy a quick run about. Why was this funny? Well, Rod and Fritz could see Florus in THEIR run with a few of THEIR girls. LOL They were rooster cussing me something terrible.

I took the straw out today, will put in fresh tomorrow. There was so much scratch and corn bits under that straw, but the straw was so damp. HOWEVER when I piled it all together and was getting it ready to bag and put out back to decompose, it was WARMER than the air. I used my hands to bag it. ANYWAY.... Birds were all out for a short stint today, so they were happy.

Gonna go wash now. Smell like a stye and smoke. Have a good nite and catch ya all sometime tomorrow nite.

Oh my goodness! I can't believe they were that much. I've been dying to have lavenders or jubilees but don't think I'm going to have any at THAT price! Holy moly as Nova would say...
