Hi Gigi. Congrats on soon being an ultra busy grandma. You're going to have cuteness overload with 3 new grandbabies.
Hi to all. I made it through the day. Glad I have tomorrow to recoup before Monday, though. Came home and saw DH had everyone outside working on cleaning up the yard. Unfortunately, during the clean-up, my DDs finally discovered the fate of our little mille fleur hen, Daphne. We noticed a few weeks ago that she wasn't with everyone else, but we didn't know if something happened to her or if she was hiding somewhere in the pole barn on a nest. They tend to make nests in there despite our efforts, but we eventually find them. Anyway, we have cinder blocks on one side of the goat pen and my youngest DD found her inside one of the holes of a block. Oldest DD pulled her out, but she obviously was gone. We think DS must have missed her at some point when closing the coop and she got shut out and tried to go in the block for warmth. Poor girl. We feel so bad about it.
Ashli, perhaps the landlord would have been a bit better about the fence if he had known prior to it being put up. I would think most landlords would want to know and be asked before a change to the property was made even with a non-permanent structure. Just talk with him about it again and re-state why it is necessary and explain that it is not permanent or detrimental to the property. It's better to have a removable fence than to have a situation to occur that could cause physical harm to someone especially your son. As for your neighbor, that was all spite. She's got her bum in a twist because you put up the fence and basically are stating she has dangerous dogs. She probably doesn't even care about the fence, but just wanted to cause you grief for the slight. Not a neighbor I would want, but I hope you can come to terms with her or at least find somewhere better that will still let you have chickens.
