Fuzzy's Farm

I AM a vet tech lol ..everyone's ok. I miss having the chickens. Got a hawk that wants to eat my quail and two chicks. Bought a net for the top but my husband has made it too complicated to put it up . That's about everything.

Easter dinner has come and gone and all is well with the world - LOL! Guess what - oldest son and DL are finally HAVING A BABY - WHOOPEE! They've been trying for a couple of years so we are all so excited. That's three grandkids that are going to be born within a week or two of each other. Things are going to be crazy on the farm when they all hit about 5.

Hi Nova. Sounds like florus is coming along. I hope is neck is better today.
Ashli, a fence makes for the BEST neighbors. It keeps everyone safe and keeps problems from happening. I'm with Nova, I'd put it up on your property and not worry about the gripey people. And, yeah, I second looking for another rental where you can have your chicks back.

Rubbing an a hurt ear that has a hematoma with aloe vera or vit e oil helps also. Vetracyn or Nustock is the best also.

Hi Gigi. Congrats on soon being an ultra busy grandma. You're going to have cuteness overload with 3 new grandbabies.

Hi to all. I made it through the day. Glad I have tomorrow to recoup before Monday, though. Came home and saw DH had everyone outside working on cleaning up the yard. Unfortunately, during the clean-up, my DDs finally discovered the fate of our little mille fleur hen, Daphne. We noticed a few weeks ago that she wasn't with everyone else, but we didn't know if something happened to her or if she was hiding somewhere in the pole barn on a nest. They tend to make nests in there despite our efforts, but we eventually find them. Anyway, we have cinder blocks on one side of the goat pen and my youngest DD found her inside one of the holes of a block. Oldest DD pulled her out, but she obviously was gone. We think DS must have missed her at some point when closing the coop and she got shut out and tried to go in the block for warmth. Poor girl. We feel so bad about it.

Ashli, perhaps the landlord would have been a bit better about the fence if he had known prior to it being put up. I would think most landlords would want to know and be asked before a change to the property was made even with a non-permanent structure. Just talk with him about it again and re-state why it is necessary and explain that it is not permanent or detrimental to the property. It's better to have a removable fence than to have a situation to occur that could cause physical harm to someone especially your son. As for your neighbor, that was all spite. She's got her bum in a twist because you put up the fence and basically are stating she has dangerous dogs. She probably doesn't even care about the fence, but just wanted to cause you grief for the slight. Not a neighbor I would want, but I hope you can come to terms with her or at least find somewhere better that will still let you have chickens.

Spent the day with the birds, bought some discounted grapes and made their day :) Was a nice day to sit in the sun. I ended up taking hope for a drive, she did great! I drove with her in my lap, and thought for sure i was gonna get pooped on; she didn't ! I brought her to my work so one of the girls could see/ pet her, she loved it! Then we went for a short shopping stint. Only time she pooped was once, when i first put her into her carrier when i stopped at work first. After that, nada... Felt kinda bad for that, but she seemed quite content to have a day NOT being picked on.

Still having issues with my d'uccles, though. I could let them out to range with the others, and henry wouldn't be terrible to Maurice as long as he didn't pester the EE hens, but those d'uccle girls.......... they go out of their way to squat for the big rooster! hussies. So i've kept them completely seperate, but they not only won't let their boy do his duty, his sis did a turkey style butt kicking to him! If i didn't know she was 100% girl......... and he can't mount the big girls quick enough either. Just p.o's them off. So should i trim his feet feathers any more? Maybe it'd make for a quicker move????? He is a very frustrated virgin roo right now :D
