Fuzzy's Farm

Is that your youngest boy? Very nice mom/son pic.

The waters here are rising. I went down quite a few roads today where water was over the road when it wasn't 2 days ago. One road in particular had 3 different spots and the last one made me turn around and re-route. There's a good 3 feet of water over it so I wasn't even going to try. There was a crystal flash propane truck in front of me and he wouldn't even give it a try. Took a pic with my cell phone once I was on the other side and showed it to DH and he just couldn't believe it. And the road right before the one I live one is starting to flood over, too. We're only supposed to be dry Sunday before the next rounds of rain so we'll see if we need boats to get around soon or not.

In chicken news, they were set free today and are currently having a great time digging around in the dirt for worms and such despite the misty rain.

My run is a mud pit... BIG TIME. It didn't rain all day, but when I just came in from building the Marans pen, it started again. I have some planters full of soil that I am going to dump in the Marans pen to bring the ground up. I won't be using the same soil again for a 3 year for potted tomatoes. Figure, it's pretty much tomatoed out, may as well use it for a better purpose, then, straw flakes over that. Their pen is shy the amount of feet it should have by 6 feet. Think they'll be ok? Two roosts, one nest box, and I put my kids old folding table in for now so I can set their food and water there until I get a skid for it. Going to snatch one from work. They just throw them away according to Rudy. Not the nice skids though... BUT it'll keep the food and water off the ground.

The silkies are getting a pen in the garage... They can't go where I want them to be yet. The mud is inches deep and quite...ick.

Thanks for the compliments on my pic. Yes, that's my youngest. My oldest wouldn't take such a nice picture. He looks like he's being tortured into a smile most the time, and he has such a happy smile!

My chickens love rain but they are in run with the coop and choose when they play in it ... hope you guys dry out some soon ,.. when i was visiting in ga i followed gps to my aunts house and it took me down several washed out DIRT ( read ga clay people not just regular dirt lol ) roads ... i was scared something fierce as it had been raining two whole days stariught befrore we took those roads and was pouring down rain that day !!
DO i need to start buying canoes or arks and sending them north ?

it is a great pic lol i know what ya mean about oldest sometimes looking like theyare being tortured lol ... i think the chicks will be ok with the pen some shy ..... poor silkies no new home yet .. but i know the feeling..we finally broke down and put straw or hay .. i dont much know the difference for a country girl ssadly in both the big pens because the ground just got to staying so muddy for some reason ... the chickens love playing around and scratching in it the ducks try ot eat it lol but the pens stay so much cleaner and nice and dry that way now

Fuzzy - after my Orloff hen gets off these Silkie eggs she's on I am getting rid of them if you are interested. I only have one hen and a Roo. I lost the other hen this winter. I am cutting waaay back on my breeds of birds. Want to do mostly my silkies. All my Marans are leaving too. I am keeping my Welsummers and my polish and my bantams but just about every other breed will be leaving. I also have a trio Golden Campines that will be re-homed.

Idk on the roo, or roos in general. :( I love my roos, but with the imminent move idk what i can and can't have. Fighting right now to get into a place where i can at least have hens! Havta twist DH's arm on the sparta place; it's a house but for some reason he didn't care for it when we drove by. I keep telling him just because the last/ current renters have crap in the backyard don't mean it has to stay! Funny because he's the one who has hoarding tendencies and uses the line "i don't care what people think. Only snobs judge anyway" LOL.

I would use one! LOL. I like canoing, could canoe lots of places right now. I have to be careful because several of my ways to get to work are REALLY close to flooding over the roads!

LOL

Well, i think the guy down the road a bit from the chickens has you beat unfortunately on weather issues; I forgot to post yesterday that his barn actually blew down!!!

It was old, but i sure did a double take when i drove by!

gotta run. i have to get up at 7:30; bird won't sleep past then. Trying to make me an early bird i think! I always want to sleep and he just gets mad and keeps going...........

Hey ya tee... you can call in water logged and just go to Kazoo instead... LOL

It started raining here again. It is just a drizzle, and as long as it stays just a drizzle, all will be well.

RUSTY! IF YOU READ THIS, DON'T BE LATE GETTING TO ROBINS IN THE MORNING! There... there is your reminder.

Oooooooo! Guess what i found? Sorry if this is the link one of you had a while back for porcelain silkie babies, i still am up in the air whether these are true porcelain or not, but holy crap look at the sheer pouf of them! And close to me; i may have to contact to see if she's still doing the porcleain. Even if it's just part porcelain, the next breeding back to a porcelain SHOULD give some porcelain. But she sold a hen and roo of that kind, so..........
