Hi Everyone! Well, we are back from Chi Town. I love love love Chicago. We had the best time doing all the tourist stuff and eating pizza. Went to Second City and the opera and the art institute and the field museum. Sooo much fun but soooo cold. I don't know how you guys do it. Bone chilling cold. I wish we could have seen you all! That would have made the trip.
Rusty, how is your husband? My first husband went through the same stuff but with a dissecting aortic aneurysm. It's not fun and the recovery is sometimes a challenge. They feel very vulnerable and rightly so.
Fuzzy, I'm sorry to hear about your DH's grandmother. That's hard.
Great news. Baby is out of intensive care and is home. We are so relieved. Looks like he's going to be fine. The kids are handling him with kid gloves and I want to remind them that he's a healthy baby according to the dr and they should play with him just like they did before he went into nicu. It's natural but I feel bad cause they are so stressed still. Only time, I guess.
6" Snow here yesterday. My birds and goats won't even stick their heads out of the barn/coop. Silly things. They aren't used to snow like this. Think I'm going to go out and coax them a bit with FOOD.
Gigi! glad you enjoyed your trip! Yes, the weather here is chilly. We had a very warm day earlier in the week, though it was drizzling and hazy out. I used that day to clean every coop...
I only got 3 eggs today...bummer...
SO, decided it's the perfect time to worm. Yup.. worm problem.
Also had a successful hatch from Soledad. She hatched all 7 eggs, but one got out of the brooder, a tiny one, and couldnt' figure how to get back in, so died of the cold... NOW I have a problem with Sole... she will be just fine one minute, then tuck her head under, walk backwards and then flip over... Dangit all. SO, In the morning I have to go to the store and get baby vit and selenium and poultry drench and yeah... Good thing she is confined. She's not that way all the time, but pretty clear that wry neck is starting, and I dont' want it to progress. She's also needing a worming. I noticed that in her broody poop. SO, thinking that might be the serious underlying problem. Worms, having brooded, and ot eaten enough, and the worms took it all. She's a good mama though. Several look to be full fav chicks, several look to be fav/phoenix crosses. Can't wait to see the total out come... LOL
Keep warm ya'll. Getting brrrrrracious. out there.
Had on my dads hunting pants. Had toe warmers in my shoes, but think I should have worn my boots instead. HOLY SHEEP SH.... My one foot near that sits over the carpet with no floor under it still froze! Got down to 14 in zeeland at one point... I even had my hot blanket..... IT WAS COLD!! AND so sloooooow. New tires were great, but my fingers were so cold even with the gloves on... I am thinking I am going to hit the FFH and pick up a cig lighter heater to blow down by my feet. I might end up taking my friend up on his offer to use his car too on te really cold nights if I don't get someone to hot wire the blower motor to a toggle first... The one thing I do not know how to do... electrical..
No, not quite the ears... Lol was a crap nite though last night for driving. They didn't plow for crap in zeeland. Wouldn't have been a big deal but my u-joint is making a cracking noise... So only used the 4x4 when I had too. Just slower going and made for a long one. How bout you Gigi?
