Fuzzy's Farm

or a chicken on a leash, "just because" ha ha ha (Alternately you could devise a small wooden cage, like you see them carting around in the movies ) Do they serve food at these things?

I have a really cute old wooden one, and the whole top is an arch with hardware cloth. It's great for chicks and bantams, and great for taking them to events, because people can see them without touching. I want to bring Sophie really bad, but there's dogs there, and well, yeah....that might go really bad really fast. She'd love it though, I've taken her to so many concerts and stuff, she LOVES attention. When I used to do petting zoos I brought her and one little boy held her for 2 hours straight and she just slept in his lap. It was so cute.

Ya, that stinks about dogs. I like them, but you are right. Can't bring your bird. Can't really bring birds/cats many places at all, really. I take my cat for car rides, and he loves it. I have to be careful, though because of the dogs too. Even a good dog goes nuts for a cat in a car. lol.

It's one of these kind of days. :) DH rolled through, says he fed and watered everyone so i didn't have to ride out. Aww. But he don't do the poop cleaning, and he don't know about the sickly. I may go out in a few hours.

I'm also trying to figure out what to do about my porcelain booted banty hen, she is sick. They've all had occasional sneezes but she was puffing a bit yesterday :( The porcelain d'uccle's sound ok, and of the millie roosters 2 are ok and 1 is bad but they persisted in roosting outside a few times in the cold rain, so............ But her i worry about. :(

Will the d'uccles be ok in the camper, or do they need heat? I love them but i don't want them to die because of me!
I would give them up if need be to make sure they were ok.
Fuzzy - You need to put them on Tylan for 5 -7 days.10 days if necessary. If they are feathered out they shouldn't need heat but I must confess I do have one on mine.

This afternoon, I went out to let the SGs out of the tractor where they sleep and the littles out to the covered run into the big run, and Nugget was laying on his side. One foot up... I thought he was dead. I kicked the wood frame and he didn't flinch! I opened the door and nudged him with my boot and he popped up! Poor guy had sand in his eye, so I wiped it off for him and held him while he ate. I don't know if he will make it through the winter...

I will keep trying though!
He was the smallest chick... I have a soft spot for weak animals...

Yeah, Rusty, it was downright cold last night. I got up and turned the heat on (we hadn't yet). 52 this morning (I know you MI people probably think that's a warm spell - ha). All is fine here. My asthma is kicking up so probably going to have to make a Dr. apt even though I hate going - yuck! I spent the day in the goat barn putting in an old cabinet so that I can sit the microscope on it and do our own fecals. Then reorganized the feed room and made a straw bed in one corner to keep everyone warm. It was so funny - the little guy (so named because he's TINY, tiny tiny - no more than 14 inches high at his withers) thought it was wonderful that I had dragged in two bales of hay. He jump, bucked, twisted, hopped from on bale to another and then would run around the goat shelfs like a madman. The other three just looked at him like he had taken leave of his mind. I laughed so hard it kicked my asthma in and I had to sit down which automatically meant that my lap became another launching pad. SO funny. I think he thought that those bales were especially for him to play on...

Ah... poor Nugget...

Well, got 4 loads washed and hung today. A lot of walking up and down the stairs... Got the coops cleaned, roosts scraped, run raked. The neighbors chickens came for dinner in two different groups. LOL, they are so funny. Poor Carl put up a fence to deter them, but they just go farther in the woods and then come back out on my side. HAHA.

Had a hawk visit today. No one was injured, but they sure put up a ruckus and crammed themselves under bushes. The funniest thing, Coco Chanel comes running across the yard at top speed once I was out there and checking things out. Anyway, she was hiding under the neighbors lilac weeds with a few of the other girls, and one at a time they all ran across the front yard to the bushes on the other side of the yard and in a direct line to the coop. Only Coco Chanel comes tearing across the lawn making the most God awful noise at the same time like she's in the process of becoming a hawk special. LOL.

We had a person come that is trying to get business for home improvement jobs. I am standing there looking up at the sky, kinda turning in circles watching for that darn hawk cuz he was cruising around casing the joint. The lady asked me what I was looking for, and I told her. She was shocked that the hawk would eat a chicken. She then asked me if I thought they'd eat her little 3 pound chihuahuas. I told her yes, and that with them being that little, they'd probably carry it away with them. LOL. She lives in rabbitville, so I think she's probably got nothing to worry about. LOL.

Anyway. Took me a anti inflammatory. Hope my foot won't hurt to bad later... It hurts like a mother now.
