Fuzzy's Farm

Yay Babies Everywhere!!!

Thank you all for your condolences. It was a nice and quick memorial. She would have hated the music her daughter picked out... LOL
My aunt spoke and covered all the bases... her food, honking her horn, her nails, shopping... She lived long enough to become a great great grandmother.
She was cremated and my grandpa made her a beautiful box.
What did I miss are we serving popcorn

Today I have chugged a lot of water. I still have a head ache.

Anyway, back to the headache. I am giving the water a try for curing the continual headache. I was listening to AM radio and there was a guy on saying that a lot of headaches are caused from chronic dehydration, and that drinking cool-aid, coffee, soda and tea's do not count as a hydration source. That for every cup of soda, tea, coffee you drink, you should add a cup of water to your daily water intake. SO, you already drink your 8 cups (which I do not), and you have a few cups of coffee, you need to add the corresponding amount of water for that... SO, you need to go and take stock options out in your favorite toilet paper company cuz you are going to be peeing a lot. I noticed that I do pee a whole lot when I drink coffee, so I guess I can see how this is a diuretic and strips your body of needed water. HOWEVER, the guy said you don't need to cut down on your coffee, tea... just balance it with more water.
My daughter's general doctor tried to tell us soda was considered a water source. Um, okay. I happen to have a human health book that says otherwise and not to mention, even I know better than that. But, yes, dehydration causes headaches and coffee, tea and soda are not hydration sources. My daughter 'tries' to balance them out...somewhat...

I hope it works for you and you get rid of the headaches.

Nugget still looks like this...if not worse...
I will be bringing him in the house tomorrow. I will make sure his crop gets nice and full and I will give him his vitamins along with some garlic to see if that helps any.
Please, let me know if you think this could be anything else besides wry neck.
Should I try antibiotics? I have not given him any antibiotics because this was quickly brought on by another rooster beating him up.
I was not home at the time this happened and they were fine together... until they weren't.
The other rooster is long gone.

I just feel so awful and want him to be better.

WATER-SOLUBLE VITAMINS

Vitamin B1 (Thiamin)

Vitamin B1 deficiencies result from an inadequate level in the diet. Other causes of a defiency include excess Amprol (used to treat or control coccidiosis) in the diet; moldy feed; or by rancid fat oxidation. A deficiency typically takes three weeks to develop.
Vitamin B1 is needed for formation of a coenzyme involved in the function of the nervous system.A vitamin B1 deficiency resembles Avian Encephalomacia (AE), vitamin E deficiency and Newcastle disease.
Symptoms of a vitamin B1 deficiency in young birds include:
  • Nervousness
  • Ruffled feathers
  • Leg weakness
  • Unsteady gait
  • Paralysis (convulsions with head retraction) called polyneuritis
  • Star-gazing (head retracted due to paralysis of the anterior muscles of the neck)
Symptoms of a vitamin B1 deficiency in adults include:
  • Blue comb
  • Decrease in respiration rate
  • Lowered body temperature

Nugget has a few of these symptoms:
Nervousness
unsteady gait
star gazing
blue comb (his comb is darker- purple ish- on occasion)
