Here comes the rain again...
These temps have the bugs out in force today. I saw bees, skeeters, ladybugs... I feel like I am covered in bugs! I am glad I do not work tomorrow. I have coop cleaning to do. I have those roosts I want to re-arrange also. I'd like to do it today, but I hear the thunder coming in...
SO, those buckets that Olive explained to me how to build... I just bought a bag of feed today. Two weeks ago I bought a bag of 24% and corn and did a 2/3-1/3 split. I used the last of that feed this morning to fill the feeder for the little chicks. I bought a bag of feed today, but they didn't have the 24% so had to get the 20%, Very irratating. Anyway, I couldn't do the same split, so did 3/4-1/4 split. Still have corn left from the original bag, and have about 10 pounds of the feed after filling the homemade feeders and a 7 pound feeder. How awesome is that. That has cut my feed bill nearly in half those feeders.
With the 7 pound hanging feeder, it is not hanging. What I did with that was take the base off my 3 gallon waterer, set the base down, then set the 7 pound on that, so there is like a trough on the outside of the feeder and it is up off the floor. No feet knocking it over. I haven't lost feed from that either with the chicks. YEAH!
I normally buy 3 bags of feed plus some a month. I usually get 8-9 days from a bag. Today made it 14 days, but I still had feed in the homemade feeders, so probably could have gone 16 days. I am so not complaining. TWO WEEKS!
The SLW is still in that garage. She has no light except the heat lamp. She is actually quite a bit perkier today than yesterday. She does have egg yolk all over her bottom though. I got some antibiotics... We'll see what we can do. Maybe with no light for a week or more, I can get her back into health, even if she turns into a lawn ornament.
I have 5 dozen eggs on the counter. Going to worm everyone tonight. I did just worm Esdee, but its been enough days, going to do a follow up on her and a single dose on the others. Not supposed to worry about egg with drawl with the ivermectin, but just to be on the safe side, we'll chuck the eggs for a few days. Not like we are getting much right now any how.
Also, can't find my normal toed NH. Didn't see no leaves scattered like there was a struggle, no feathers. Hope I just over looked her. Worry about that fox finding his way this way. Carl hasn't lost any more birds, since he saw it, and they did just do the field, so I am hoping it hightailed it away for a bit..
