that is the other word..poke salad plant .. lol my grandpa loved them and used to have some every spring i would not try it .. i dont like greens at all .. i know southern and not a green eater how odd ... for the record i do not eat many foods southern in nature to me ... fried okra or fried green maters or squash lol a lot of stuff i do not eat that my family tried to raise me on i dont eat it now or then lolSupposably the chickens are ok, but turkeys and cattle NO.
NO you are not supposed to eat the greens, but if they are cooked sufficiently they won't kill you. I wouldn't go there myself. If it is poison when it's raw, that's good enough for me!
