Oh good, i was wondering if you had a wood stove. Sucks about the bator, if you do lose it for more than a few days even a generator wouldn't do much good. Sigh. I would still store water from the tap in buckets, whatever you have that will hold water! You can rig up a temporary outhouse, but the animals still need drinks. You too! Do you have a stream anywhere near by? Get extra gas, if you can. If you are careful and if the car ends up being ok you could drive to water in an emergency. This storm is supposed to be bigger than any we've had in the last 30 years, bigger than the "perfect storm" ! Scary stuff. I will be worrying about you all the way through it!I am worriede more about the chicks in the bator than the big guys ...we fixed up the pens with tarp etc to help keep out wind rain snow whatever may come ... hopefully we do not lose anyone outside to this ... and we do not lose power ... even if we had wanted water to store at the house today there was NONE to be had at 3 stores ... well at least we will have cold running water and a wood stove to boil it on !!
I would bring it back, no ifs ands or buts. Even if it's open. That's not koshur, too bad you are not close. Our local feed store is great! They are always pleasant. They even let me have flock raiser for the same price as the gamebird that i've been feeding them, i think they do a lot better on the gamebird so idk why it's cheaper, it has more protein and vitamins! Good for me, i guess.I went to the feed store today- the ONLY one close, and they were out of chicken feed.
I bought two bags of pine shavings to use to top off the coop. And they are damp. The package is dry, the shavings are damp.
So are the girls. Kayla was so excited, and she was going to clean her room- then I found her on her floor. Here we go again. She had her MRI today. Hopefully Tuesday I will see what it says.
If you mean washed, i wouldn't. I didn't even wash my roo the year he got his comb bit up, middle of winter and blood all over him! It eventually will come off. Took about a week and the blood and stink were all gone, bleh. His little hen helped him, i think (cocoa) I am in the weather a lot on my bike or camping, and i've always noticed how much colder i am after i am freshly clean.........so i don't wash animals in the cold, because the oil helps keep in the heat. Even if you dried her up, she still would need days at least to get her oils back. If it's just her bottom, perhaps you could do a quick sponge bath, but it's still risky imo.No. No roosters for me of that breed. My slw is still hanging in there. Keeping fingers crossed. She really needs cleaned up but am afraid to do it until she's better... I don't know... What ya think?
we do have two-streams nearby in case of emergency ... and when it rain like they predict we have a pond in the yard ... FIL does his best to keep the ditch clean bc the county never does it like they are supposed too ... he just did it and the gutters the other week so that will big a big help to us ... and we are planning to fill the extra sink and the washer with water before things get bad and have started saving the soda and milk stuff to rinse and fill out and in the morning i am making frozen freezer bad to help fridge and freezer so if lights do go we wont lose food.... got all the animal food up off the lower ground and in tight sealing plastic bins ... tommorow we are gonna get everything loose put up .. ie chairs patio stuff etc and tied down ..... the worst for us is looking like it might be tuesday instead of monday now .... in a way that is a relief as tuesday is hatch day ... maybe if it goes while they are hatching i can still keep them wam enough as they hatch ..... i guess im silly worrying about eggs when so many people are in for worse than us .... and im scared to death of the dark .. yet another reason i fear the lights going out ... well not the dark per se but what i imagine is in it ....Oh good, i was wondering if you had a wood stove. i dont like it when its too quiet either i miss everyone when they arent around !!! i love most of my byc buds ... i only have one number though and thats robins lol oh well my bad i have 2-3 but i actually talk to robin !!! piper remind me sometime and ill pm you my number and you can text and call when ya fel like it lolSheesh, where is everybody today?? I was being bombarded by PMs yesterday and today: Nada. All my BYC besties must be busy with their lives. Ha! Wish I had one of those! Jk, I guess I could call my friends. But that would just destroy any hope that my generation might have a teeny bit of intelligence left..............One of my friends on here hasn't been online for a LONG time (okay, only like a week). Weird, we talked like everyday, now we haven't talked in a week. I guess I could call him..............nah, probably busy. Ok then, I guess I'll go sketch up some ideas for Sophie's Halloween costume.
