Fuzzy's Farm

perhaps the junglefowl just don't mix with the poofs? 2 different temperaments?

I have a mixed flock too and i've noticed for the most part like sticks with like.

My booted bantam girl is having an identity crisis, she knows she's not a d'uccle but she's not a EE either; so she hangs with both but seems to prefer my smallest EE hen that has blue also (pale blue, similar to the bb's porcelean)

That might be it too, D, how about extra feed stations? A roll of chicken wire down the center of the run? I used to do that gotten ducks to keep my hens from going overthrow side and stealing their food and Roger from beating them up...
I actually set up a second one a few weeks ago. I even put it on the other side of the pen. But Bob seems territorial and runs back and forth trying to keep the poofs from eating "his" food.

Sophie's "cape" is almost done:

700

It's basically just a saddle, but it only has a strap around her breast. I found some ½ inch ribbon and I figured out how to make a harness that will go under the cape. Now to find a leash, throw together an Alfred Pennyworth costume and we'll be all set.

Time for some nice, hot tea and sleep. Lots of sleep......... 6 hours of glorious sleep......

its pretty piper !! i like it ! but wont show tiny cause she will say she wants one lol

poor poofy heads.. bad bob

Haha thanks. And I found some of that applique sticky stuff or whatever so NO sewing! Yay!

D, I don't really have any suggestions. Except maybe separate them for awhile until the Poof heads are bigger............

Hi Everyone,

Today we found two of the Poof Heads with their head feathers picked almost entirely off, and blood everywhere. Bob is chasing them, pecking them, and ripping their head feathers out. We put Bob in the pen the Poofs were in for now, but any thoughts on how to help the Poof Head's heal, and maybe what to do to win Bob over (Or if it's even possible to win him over?)

Here's some pics of the damage:

And the culprit:

The usual suspect. :p

It's just the two black and whites that are getting nailed. Ms. Bagawk and Alice are fine. Any thoughts on what to do?
Blue Kote. Cover their eyes and dab or spray it on.

it was a neat tour .... and i like most of their wines lol i think that is what i am asking for f or christmas...50 dollars worth of wine !!!
Me too!!!
we do have two-streams nearby in case of emergency ... and when it rain like they predict we have a pond in the yard ... FIL does his best to keep the ditch clean bc the county never does it like they are supposed too ... he just did it and the gutters the other week so that will big a big help to us ... and we are planning to fill the extra sink and the washer with water before things get bad and have started saving the soda and milk stuff to rinse and fill out and in the morning i am making frozen freezer bad to help fridge and freezer so if lights do go we wont lose food.... got all the animal food up off the lower ground and in tight sealing plastic bins ... tommorow we are gonna get everything loose put up .. ie chairs patio stuff etc and tied down ..... the worst for us is looking like it might be tuesday instead of monday now .... in a way that is a relief as tuesday is hatch day ... maybe if it goes while they are hatching i can still keep them wam enough as they hatch ..... i guess im silly worrying about eggs when so many people are in for worse than us .... and im scared to death of the dark .. yet another reason i fear the lights going out ... well not the dark per se but what i imagine is in it ....
fl.gif
all goes as well as it can with this storm coming in for everyone .... if its like irene last year will be a lot of wind and rain ... only on a larger scale ...
How are you doing Silver? It's looking very bad on the news - I'll keep my fingers crossed that you are safe.

Too cute, Ms.B. I love Halloween - just finished Cinderella costume for the granddaughter. She'll be the prettiest princess.

Sent the weekend driving up to my dad's (4 hrs) and putting in a dog door for him. He just adopted the cutest little beagle and I'm really excited because a dog will be the best thing for him. His BF is also a dog person so they are babying this little beagle and I'm so happy.

Do any of you give your chickens leftover alfalfa? We had half a bale of alfalfa that the goats refused to eat because it was full of nasty sandburs. So I threw it into the girls pen for them to dig through. Now I'm worried they will get it into the crops and have problems. What do you think? Should I go pull it back out?
