Fuzzy's Farm

Isn't it just like a man! I was out doing yard work the last few days. I am bagging stuff up yesterday, and John calls out, what ya doing? Um... EYES are for seeing stupid! Did I get an offer of help? Not a chance!

LOL. I would keel over dead if that ever happened.

Here's one for you..... I asked DH yesterday to check on the birds today, been telling him i need help turning them loose in the afternoon so they can be out because it's almost dark by the time i get there, i asked him many times to help check on them so i didn't forget anything. (my whole schedule of sleep and life in general has been an uproar since i started work)

I get there today and the babies didn't have a stitch of water, i had forgotten to put their water back in when i let them out and put them away! I was so upset i my stomach is in knots still. I had brought some sardines for the flock, so after they were done drinking i fed them to the babies instead so they had something moist to eat. DH gets in from hunting and asks me why they didn't have water

um i made a mistake! Why didn't you give them some? So he had put the dish in for a bit this afternoon when he checked on them but took it away when he went back out!

I'm seriously considering to bribe the neighbor to help :(

As much as cookie reminded me of cocoa, her last baby is even more like her. I catch her just studying me sometimes. It reminded me so much of that fateful day, i can't shake it. Were i to lose her i'd really and truly give up.

They were happy and grooming when i left, i am sure they will be fine this time.........there can't be a "next time" though. :(

I am so sorry. What a stressful-sounding day. I have had too many days like that.

It's not that i don't have a million dishes for water, it came down to human error. On both our parts, it was my mistake so i can't be too mad at him but dang it why couldn't he have thought for me and just did it??

I'm not angry just tired and sore and stressed. Tomorrow is a new day. :)

My grocery store finally got my tension tamer tea back in, i've been without for a whole week. I definitely feel the difference! In stress and in my clarity of thought.
Almost as bad as being without coffee!

Trust me, the water will be the FIRST thing i do when i get there here on out. I would rather the food ran dry than the water, especially this time of year. Gail said in that book that it takes twice the time a bird has been out of water to recoup, so if it was 6 hours that means they still feel the effects up to 12 hours later. That is a lot of stress on the internal organs, too. Part of the responsibility of being an animal owner.

Sorry for those who had rough days

We did lose the two weaker ones but the rest are doing well .. funny thing is i do believe supplies the duck is training 15 chicks to be ducks ... they all try to get in the water and bathe like supplies does and follow supplies around the whole mini brooder ... it is a sight to behold .... they scare me though twice now i have went down to check on all of them and one or two chicks will always be laying like they are dead all stretched out in weird ways or laying with feet in the air ..... and then they hear me and all sit up like oohhh whats that noise ....

My one feeder i havent used much is actually like that nova ... maybe i should actually use it if it helps to save food...it was one someone gave me with some chickens and i sat it to the side ... hmm is a thought ..
