What is the world coming to when people's chickens are getting stolen right out of their backyards?! Really, I just don't know what to think...

Nova - Thank you so much for the offer and yes I do want them but that wouldn't be fair to the kid. He wants Marans. When I start hatching in the spring I will make sure he gets some.

I can't believe someone is stealing your chickens. Can you lock the coop door at night? geesh. I think I would set up at night and scare the beejeesss out of them - as well as call the cops.

I think it's pretty pathetic. To steal in itself is pathetic but to steal someone's animals, that's beyond pathetic. Every single person that knows me knows if someone is hungry I will feed them. No need in stealing from me.

Robin, I am not worried about when you may have them or not. I could just get 4 eggs, and have one of the darn broody broads do the hatching. Skeeter or Skatter would do the deed easy. LOL Maybe set Vanilla in a box with the eggs and have her decide to go broody. That silkie has not gone broody and I have had her for what... 5 months, going on 6... Time for her to earn her keep! I can make a trip of it, or meet you some where in the middle on a Monday, Wednesday, or Friday. I'd drop the boy off to school, and head on out. Meet some where in K-zoo...

One of the faverolle boys has started to crow. I got home from work about 5:45 this morning to a crow-fest. The neighbor on the one side, whose crow I know. BUT there was a crow from farther away, but from the wrong direction. So, some one south of us who lives in the trees, where you can not see the houses has gotten chickens now too. SO cool. Well, anyway, I hear Fritz, Fibber, Rod, Carls roo, the unknown roo down the road, then a deep bugle crow from my run, then a crow from the north and then another crow from a different one from the north. LOL. I must have stood outside for about 5 minutes just listening to them all. LOL. It was great.

About the chickens all around now... When I moved here, only 2 people north of me had birds. Then Carl got birds, I got birds, another person north got birds, 2 to the east and north got birds, and now looks like another to the south of me got birds. This is now 7 homes with birds with in 1/4 mile of me in all directions. We've started a trend here. LOL. I think I have the most roosters though. LOL.

My mom is having a third surgery tomorrow. Pain is back, swelling is WAYYYYYYYYY back, fever, white count is up. BP is up.
Some seriously messed up human came into her room when I wasnt there today, to do "physical therapy" on her leg. UM HELLLO??? The woman is having surgery tomorrow. No point in PT yet. SHe is in PAIN> well, everyone has been gentle since I went off on the jerk doctors but not this guy. He yanked her leg, turned it from side to side made her cry and scream and beg for him to stop. He BENT her leg. And yanked her to the edge of the bed.
Had my son been there, the man would have been in the ER and he would have been in jail. And had I been there, it wouldnt have happened. I would have, to quote the jerk doctor, "refused his treatment'. Seriously, friends- what happens to peoples brains when they make over thirty dollars an hour?

God complex. I think some people should are in it for the money. Thats it. I wish your son was there, even if it meant he needed to be bailed out of jail... I know... no money to bail him out, but I think when he would have had his court appearance, and explained to the judge why he laid hands on the PT, the judge may have been more... sympathetic to his cause. No good person wants an old lady to get hurt.

Don't automatically assume they are eaten, blue is a color that attracts a lot of attention, especially to novice breeders! (Yes, i like it too, and i do consider myself a novice as i don't know a very lot about genetic specifics, other than ooooo pretty! I would do a stakeout, for sure. If all you do is a padlock you will not know who is doing it, if you can figure out who there is a chance you could get them back..........................Have you had anyone to your house lately? Did someone in the family/ friends/' aquaintances of family / friends talk about you getting rid of birds, perchance? Too coincidental, me thinks.

That would work for me Nova except one thing...... I have all the Marans in with my other layers for the winter LOL. I can give you eggs, that's no problem. Just won't be able to identify them. you might end up with something like BobBry did, a Marans/Silkie cross or many other crosses. In that pen there are Marans, black copper, blue, and splash, welsummers,isa browns, delawares, a silver laced wyandotte, and a mutt (lakenvelder/blue andalusion.) Those are the hens. The roos are black copper, blue copper, 3 different colored silkie roos, cuckoo, & a delaware roo. Nice mixture lol
