Wondering if anyone else here has fybromyalgia, ive had it for aslong as I can remember but its been getting worse in the past 4-5 years! Im only a highschooler but it hurts alot sometimes, especially my back. Would be nice to talk to other people that have it and see how others deal with it! <3

Here's some ideas for gardening and keeping chickens with chronic pain and fatigue.
Tricks:
  • Take it slow, remember to pace yourself when working on projects out with the chickens.
  • This probably goes with the first bullet but take a breather every once and awhile.
  • Don't be afraid to ask for help from friends or family.
  • When cleaning out the chicken coops, I stretch it out over a couple days to keep myself from getting overly exhausted.
Tools:
  • Extendable reacher/grabber: I have a magnetic tip on mine. This helps if you drop something and are having a bad pain day.
  • Wagon: I have one I got for hauling water and feed buckets, this made it so much easier on my joints.
  • Gloves: I have a condition that causes slow healing, and I also have issues with bleeding, I need to keep my hands safe.
  • Light weight and easy to handle hose: self explanatory, healthy people have issues with wrestling a hose.
  • Weed puller: such as one from Fiskars, where you don't have to bend over as much.
  • Easy grip tools: gardening
  • Add on handle for shovel & rake: useful for cleaning out the chicken coop if you're able to stand/walk in yours. There is one for $10 by BackEZ on Amazon.

If I think of anything else, I'll be sure to edit and add it here.

I was in my late 20s before I was diagnosed with fibro. I've found that the biggest contributors to my pain being manageable are:
DON'T skimp on sleep
Spend time outdoors (it might just be because this makes me happy and relaxed, but it seems to really help)
Eat a good diet (a keto adjacent, high veggie, low carb diet seems to make my body happiest, but everybody's nutritional needs are a little different, so you do you)
Set achievable goals for your day but try to structure them so they're flexible and have a few stops built in, depending on how you're feeling. (e.g., over the weekend my husband and I wanted to do two large outdoor chores - we did all of one and about a third of another, and stopped at a sensible place so we could continue later, when continuing wouldn't steamroll my energy for the rest of the day)
Take time out every day to do something you enjoy, even if it's unproductive. I spend time with my chicks or bottle calves, or play a video game. Stress makes my fibro go crazy, so managing my stress is important for me.
