FYI: Poultry fencing @ Lowes

For setting T-Posts, I got a "Post-hole Digger tamper." It looks like a five foot spike, with a flat end and a chisel-tip end. Pound it into the ground a foot or two, shake it around and pull it up. Put the T-Post in that spot, and it goes in pretty easily. Press the dirt back in around it, and you have a T-post put up without much bending done to the T-post.

Sounds like a lot of work to me, and I'm sure it works great but why not just pound the T-post into the ground instead of the chisel and be done with it? If you use a T-post driver, it's a pretty simple job and there's no pulling something back out of the ground, disturbing the packed earth in doing so or tamping to be done.
