FYI to all new people That have roosters in their flock

We have a rooster (in my profile picture) and a toddler. So far so good, but if he ever even shows a bit of aggression in the crock pot he goes!

Just remember - it can take mere seconds for a child to be injured. Roosters can be very fast when they attack.

Just be very aware, sometimes people without a lot of experience do not recognize the warnings, and it appears the rooster just attacks out of no where. Be very aware with toddlers. I have grandchildren, and I keep them pretty close to me, and I keep a watchful eye on old Chrome.
A rooster brain, and ability to reason is not very big, and not worth trusting a child's f

I've had chickens for about 5 years. I started with 5 and had a buff brahma rooster out of that bunch. He got mean to my kids and all the typical rooster antics. We had him for a little over a year. Since then I said no more roosters. Now I have 12 beautiful hens of various breeds. Yesterday I brought home this golden Laced Wyandotte rooster that needed a home. He's got a great temperament so far. He's kinda young still so we will see. One big change i noticed this time, is we aren't scared of him. We dealt with the aggressive rooster for awhile, so this one is easier. We're more prepared. We won't let him intimidate us, so I'm hoping for the best. He sure is pretty.

I've only had roosters since March 1 when they were born I have a two-year-old that goes outside with me to feed my chickens and my two roosters she had on a red shirt and my rooster attacked her and knocked her down so please if you have children and you're new to this beware chickens don't like bright colors rooster you don't like bright colors and they will attack bright colors they attacked my two-year-old and knocked her to the ground so just a FYI if you have small children watch them around your rooster

Snuck up on him last night but him in box my husband took him a d gave him to co worker for his stew pot. Feel much better now

I was on the fence about getting a rooster at all but ended up getting a maran cockerel, he's about 5 months. I have a 4 yo son.

I was attacked by a rooster as a teenager so I know the seriousness of a rooster attack. My little guy now is terrified of all of us, and I like to keep it that way. He crowed when my older son was in the coop, so I took a stick and chased him out, and didn't let him back in for 15 min or so. I have no qualms about putting him in the pot if he tries any funny business, but right now he keeps his distance from everyone. I read that friendly roosters are actually more likely to attack so I'm cool with being the big bad mama.

Might end up butchering him anyway because I didn't want feather feet in my mix.

I am also strongly opposed to feathered feet. Don't like fru-fru hair do's on a chicken either. My birds gotta have naked legs and feet, the right number of toes, real feathers, no naked necks!

Yeah, my cockerel was a "gift" so I'm not gonna pass up on free food hahaha but my birds are utilitarian. Feather feet get dirty.

We only had that happen one time with one rooster to my grandson. That rooster isn't around anymore to tell his side of the story.
