Riddick is just a black void in the snow

This big guy is Dutch, after dutch cocoa. He's the biggest of the chocolate orpington boys

Dutch far right, Hershey in the middle, and Blackberry middle left.

Blackberry, named after his comb. He's got streaks of orange in his feathers and he lets me pick him up and carry him around. He wasn't keen on being tucked into my coat like Vuitton enjoys though.

Diva has frostbite. :( she screamed when another bird bumped into her comb. From what I've seen I may need to trim the tips so they don't painfully rot off. I'll do more research.

Doesn't this marshmallow look so much like Samara? View attachment 4264617
Where the youngsters like to hang out. They have a food bowl under there and there's a heated waterer around the corner on the back porch. That's Hooky on the left, she's doing wonderfully after her trim. And the darker red boy next to Blackberry is Rusty. He's silkie/polish and crowing like a maniac.
I would not touch the frostbite. The points may not actually need to fall off. Glynda had frostbite and it healed and her comb remained intact.

The comb is designed to handle things like frostbite without our intervention.

Hello everyone, been over a year I just found a message from someone on my youtube channel. Anyways still getting worse as far as everything goes . me neck is so bad no one will operate on it and I have just uped the dosage of my hydrocodone for chronic pain,,,,my lungs are bad my liver is a fatty liver and I have a cyst on one kidney and something else on another. I just had injections in my back yesterday but I am getting stronger and can stand about 30-45 minutes depends on the day because somedays I just cant walk my hips knees are bad basically every joint from wear and tear and old age....welll Idk how old is old Im only 56 . My rhuematoid and osteoarthrtis are bad which kills my whole body and my knee is out and hands hurt when I work with them and are swollen daily. I have another drs appt tomorrow to up the arthritis meds had 4 last week and one or 2 next week.....sigh so sick of seeing drs.
I hope everyone is well and taking care of them selves. My memories bad too and the migraines but ill try to stop by later and look for response.
Love ya all have a good holiday this year.
Bless your heart 🧡 ~ I thought my medical woes were insane cuz you sound like me... but I'm 81 & it's expected but you're only 56!!! There's only so much diet or medicine can fix... other ailments are permanent I'm afraid. Health is slowing down my ability to enjoy our current last flock. & yes, I agree, Dr appts are getting tedious!

Thanks for the frostbite advice, everyone. She's the goober who tried to sleep on the roost OUTSIDE the coop. If I thought I could catch her I'd dose with aspirin. Do we think Riddick would have any obvious signs, what with him having black skin? I'd hate for his beret to be damaged.

The breeder I was following who posted regarding cutting off frostbite also dubs her game roosters for show...with no antiseptic or pain relief...I have since unfollowed because yikes. I definitely don't want to get involved with that side of birdkeeping.

Buffy had black shrively comb tips when she first moved in with us, and over the course of the year they came off and her comb has healed up. She's still weirdly wooly, but I make sure she's tucked in the nestbox near the broodies at night to at least be warm.

Um in other news, one of my coops has a broken door hinge so it doesn't close all the way. The birds are able to sleep on either side and above, as well as in the nestboxes and I have not seen any frostbite on that group.

They would all cram into the tall coop, we have 12 or 13 in there right now. It's supposed to sleep 8 or so...

Going to go toss another layer of straw down in the coops and see if I can use a cinderblock to try closing the broken door.

I was at the 1995 rose parade. It had been a bucket list thing for me and I have to say it did not disappoint. Absolutely stunning. I had bleacher seats and for something that is that long I highly recommend them.

Parade tax

Glad you had the opportunity to experience it... & for me, one time was enough 😄! Yes, bleacher seats is the way to see the Rose Parade in person... but everything costs $$$, even the locals make $$$ charging visitors to park cars on their properties. However, bleacher seats or charging spectators for anything was not done in 1954 ~ we did it the hard way arriving before sunrise to claim a spot on the sidewalk. In '54 we were able to see the floats up close for free after a parade but now the Rose Parade is charging a fee for spectators everyday up to 3 days after the parade is over.

Tx ...later... my photos aren't working☹️

Thirsty Thursday, but wouldn't you rather wait until I get you fresh water? :sick

Mmm, dirt and bedding and poop tea...

Magrat has started molting in earnest. She's feeling shy, but she ate oats out of my hand with Esme and Sybil

View attachment 4264644
Of course Sybil will be the last to start. She's still giving me an egg every couple days.

Haven't seen Gytha's comb so pale since she was a pullet! She's molting much slower than Esme is.
Mmm! Poopy tea😁! It might help the waterer stay cleaner from shavings/poop if raised off the ground onto a big brick?
