Gabbard Farms - Blue Andalusians

I've heard he had some good Orpingtons too...I took a look at his website and all I can say they ARE better than hatchery bred birds!

I just wish I could find a way to get some of his birds down here without having to ship them.

It's quite expensive though. I would love to be able to get adults, but I really can't afford that right now. In the future...

Hi- just wanted to chime in with my experience with Gabbard Farms. I ordered Wheaten Marans eggs from them last spring and out of two dozen eggs wound up with only three actual Wheatens hatching. The fourth was some unknown Marans mix- definitely not what I thought I'd get! To top things off, both times I ordered I asked for the box to be marked "Hold at Post Office" because I live on a rural route where things as delicate as eggs are bound to get scrambled en route. Neither time was the box marked as I asked and the eggs were just left on my porch. The odd thing was that 4 out of 6 Blue Ameraucana eggs shipped in the same box hatched, so perhaps it was a fertility problem in her pen and not the crummy shipping instructions.

As far as shipped eggs go, I had EXCELLENT results with the Jersey Giant eggs I bought from Maria's Jersey Giants. Out of 13 eggs, 11 developed and hatched with no problems. They were carefully packaged and the box was clearly marked for the Post Office to hold it and call me for pick up, just like I asked.

You bought some from Maria's???? I love her Giants, HUGE as they go! Like Opingtons on steroids LOL!

The odds of Gabbard's Marans was not good....that is expensive! You should not be getting ANY mixes in the lot.
