"Chestnut?" Dour still couldn't place the name. He flipped through the names of mares in his herd; he came up with no one named Chestnut. "Chestnut, I'm Dour."

Dusky opened an eye when she heard Titan. "Yes. Yes, I am." She kicked her belly again, more forcefully. "I could've gotten away that time if I hadn't been going into labor."

Dour blinked. "I'm fine."

The grullo stud was better than he'd been hours ago, but he wasn't yet 'fine'.
