Some one told me that it is better to storage the chicken feed in galvined storage bin then plastic storage bins.
The plastic bins would let something in the feed that will go into the chicken and eggs. That's not good for us to eat.
Is there anybody here that knows something about this.
I have done some research online but it is not really clear.
Any body that can help me out here?

I haven't heard of this but it sense. I would use galvanized just because vermin can chew through plastic even with your best perserverance.

Yes,go get the galvanized. Rats chew clear through any heavy duty plastic. Then you also need a bungie cord to fasten lid on!

I use galvanized cans. Rats and mice in your barn can chew through the rubber ones far easier than the metal ones.

Oh man, mine are all in plastic  I guess time will tell if I need to change over to galvanized. Live and learn

I can't find metal, plastic only slows them down. I'm searching for an old chest style deep freeze on free cycle.

Somewhere I read that the galvanized cans sweat and cause the food to spoil. I sure can sympathize with the rat problem. I had terrible ones here for awhile. Now there are 4 feral cats. Not so many problems like that now. Jean

Have used big plastic Rubbermaid containers for years without any problem.
