i hope there's something free in here, but nope, nothing's free here, even when someone found 1 egg carton on trash bin in my country, he sell it to *people who receive all second-hand goods to be recycled ex:plastic bottle, can, carton, etc.
that's why i never be able to find any free of charge thing in here.

and i guess she will fill her house full of egg cartons even she won't be able to walk from her front door cause being stacked with egg cartons.

congratulation wegotchickens for a smooth incubate. ups, i wish the power outages didn't fail the babies.

'cooked' ? is that mean you'll entered the lockdown session on thursday?
wew, i wish you added new egg just about 1 day after yours, or you'll have different bator to hatch the first set.

yap, fortunately i'm not at disaster location, just feel the pain of people being discriminated by gov.

and worse, i can't help any of them since i know the material i send to help will *fall to wrong hand* if i don't track them up.

I'm really bad, Mulia.
Last night I stuffed some extra eggs under my broody hen. She should hatch (5) any day now. The soon-to-hatch eggs are mutts, a combo from a grey hen and white Polish rooster. I'm only hatching them from curiosity and because the broody wanted eggs so badly.

I'll switch the mutt eggs with the new ones in the bator and put all the newer ones under the broody for a couple of days, when I get to the 19th. That way all the 'fully cooked' eggs can be in lockdown at the same time. Then the broody can have her mutt chicks after I get the bator cleaned up and ready for Round 2. She's a good mama, but her babies are way less friendly than hand-raised chicks.

So, under the broody I have:
5 large mutt eggs (set ?, whenever she decided to be serious)
5 banty eggs (set 10/13)

In the incubator I have:
2 large Wellsummer eggs (set 10/1)
12 banty eggs from my 'lavender' birds (set 10/1)
7 silkie/ showgirls eggs (set 10/1)
10 silkie eggs (set 10/11)

So, I've made my plans. We'll see if Mother Nature will cooperate or throw a wrinkle into the plans. I'll candle the mutt eggs and 10/1 eggs tonight to see where everyone is at in development. And I may even switch them around tonight rather than wait.

My daughter just laughs when I explain this madness to her.
My husband would roll his eyes, so I don't tell him

so many eggs with different breed and different set times.

i think you'll need a special note to write down all the record
big_smile.png

yes, you're *bad*. she will confused and (if she could) will ask you which eggs she has set and which eggs you want her to set.

i even too confused how to deal with my girl, i just came home about 2 hours ago, it's now midnight, just make a check at coop to find if any egg available, guess what i found? she is broody again! the fourth time broody in 1 and half months. she sit on ping pong ball i placed there. i just grab her again and let her sleep with the other girl and roo. i believe she will set on the nest again tomorrow.

no egg for two days now, better than 1 month ago, my girl stop laying for 2 weeks, and i'm suffering lack of egg

I'm sad today. Half my eggs quit. Don't know if it was the power outage. I left them in, just in case. But the difference between them and the good ones was pretty clear. Will sniff the bator daily to make sure they don't mess things up, and then candle and pull quitters on Monday when we go into lockdown.

I did switch the new eggs for the broody hen's eggs.

oh i'm really sorry about your chicken eggs.
hugs.gif

yes, good to still keep them till some other days.

what difference you've catch so clear between them? movement?

hope they'll doing it well and also the broody girl.

Hi Mulia, good luck getting eggs from those darn roos! Nice to see you on BYC. I don't hatch eggs, but I wish I did so I can learn from you guys.

thank you buffhooligans, ew, just confused, how those roos produce eggs?
idunno.gif

no problem if you don't hatch any, you can try it whenever you want, and trust me, in the circumstance without power outages, you will be addicted to do it again

I have a rooster that gets into the nest after a hen has laid an egg and he sits on it. Then he gets out of the nest and walks around looking proud. What's that about? Is he trying to convince me that he is worth keeping? I've already told him that I know he wasn't the one who laid the egg.
lol.png

he pretend as the egg layer.
gig.gif

bad roo, great liar.
gig.gif

i'm thinking if he also able to sit and hatched it. then, we can convert all roo became bator while still getting egg from hen.
