Your jokes are so funny they make me laugh out loud! (Body-building chickens...

Thank you for posting pics of your flock. I never get bored looking at chickens, and when you post the pics I am thinking that you're a good chicken keeper who cares about his birds. Your chickens are so pretty! I know this is silly because who cares how chickens look, right? Only meat and eggs are important. But now I want to have arabic chickens or village chickens when the laws where I live change! I want chickens who will be happy in 40 degree weather instead of dying. I can't afford to hire a servant to fan them all day.

As for "hard feathers," I think it's just not a very good expression to describe the chickens. Maybe "flat feather covering" would be better. I notice your hand doesn't really sink into fluffy feathers when you hold your chickens. Since yours weren't born with the chicken equivalent of this

they would be happy where I live...

I think God must be laughing at us. I want the kind of chickens where you live and you want the kind of chickens where I live! We have a saying in the U.S.: "The grass always looks greener on the other side of the fence."

I hope your broody village hen does well with your eggs. I'm praying for you. (I hope God is not laughing too hard to listen...)

I know you are very busy, so I will not think it rude if you don't answer. I know you send nice thoughts.

Hi, justbugged. A very good picture of his dog is in post #33 of this thread. His name is Jacksen:

I hope Mulia can keep his chickens safe, because his family really need Jacksen as a watchdog.

Jacksen is a very nice looking dog. I thought he would be a larger dog. I guess his only fault is that he likes chicken. Hope you can find a way to keep your chickens safe, Mulia.

Thank you Ingrid for posting the picture of Mulia's dog Jacksen. I think that he looks to be part Jack Russel Terrier. He is at the least a terrier. The problem with terriers is that they where bred to hunt and kill vermin. They will often go after anything that is moving. It's will be very hard to train Jacksen to leave the chickens alone. At least Mulia has a great little watch dog and a dog that will kill mice, and rats for his family. He is a very cute little dog.

if your Dog continues to harm chickens, you could try beating him with the carcess, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.

@ ingrid :
well, i've dreamed to lived in an area covered with much snow, i never touched any snow since i was born.

i want to well, at least touch real snow in my life.

you don't have to fan them, if the coop being built under tree it will make sure the temp is not to hot and will make sure clean oxygen supply for the chicken.

"The grass always looks greener on the other side of the fence." i love this saying. as human being there's no word *satisfied/enough*, people always want everything is much easier and better than they've now.

the other two seems to be failed according to candling result i did 2 hours ago after come home from college.

i also got two chicks from my customer, she gave it to me 2 weeks ago. they're quite big now.

so i've put two cardboard boxes to house them, the left is 2 just hatched chicks, the right is 2 almost 4 weeks chicks.

i took decision to separate them from their mom not because i'm cruel inhuman people but i think that's the best since although the momma hen is the top hen but my coop has been so weak in defense, i learned from my mistake that made me lost 3 arabic chicks, i can't let 2 really valuable village chicks that the eggs being laid by my hen and being hatched by my hen killed by roo, other hen or my dog. i decided to took them and care them just like i did to my arabic chicks when they're kids. i'm really sorry to my hen to not let her to take care of the babies, she's a tough girl, she always peck my hand whenever i dare to get closer to her when she is broody, village chicken as i've said many times do have a strong behavior, they are strong against many diseases (except AI), and good mother, and for the roo really have big pride, never i have 2 roos at the same coop since i always witness the fight and last time i have two roos at same coop one is killed.

my arabic chicks are now mature and by 2010 February will have 20 weeks old (if i'm not miscounting). one thing i really mark, chicks we hatched ourselves and raised by us from the real small will always keep *being relationed* to us. this happen to my arabic chicken, they're really tame to me,it's really easy to catch them when they're loose from coop.

well, that's true, i'm really busy lately, but the most that make me unable to active on BYC is disease. i got diarrhea two weeks ago and i got (i think) urticaria 1 week ago that make me locked in house for a week because of itching and hot effect of that red dot on my hand. quite pity to get 2 diseases in 2 weeks.

but i also busy from making so many tasks i got from school designing 3d max, leadership task and building information system. i build 2 websites, 1 for my group and 1 for my friend's group. took my time so much. perhaps anyone want to take a look
big_smile.png
www.iffor.co.cc and www.bargaincity.co.cc NOTE: iffor is a *fake* site, i mean i built that site only to fulfill my school task of building an online car store so make sure not to think that iffor is a real selling website. bargaincity is also a *fake* site, i built it for my friend to fulfill her task to build an information site. make sure not to think that those 2 websites are real store or selling site. i just tell it here maybe there's people want to take a look and give some comment/feedback about my work.
smile.png
NEVER put in information about bank account or anything valuable to those sites although i'm the one who running and admin those sites.

thank you ingrid

@ tomato lady
absolutely right, he is a nice looking dog but as you said he *likes* chicken not in a way i like chicken.
big_smile.png
i like chicken by raising them, playing with them and *harvest* the egg. but he likes them by killing them.
somad.gif
how do you barbara? long time no *see*.
smile.png
thank you for the compliment barbara.

@ justbugged
it's great if he's a rat/mice killing dog, but since i raised him from small till now, i never see him killing mouse/rat, he even *join* the rat to *invade* my coop.
roll.png
well, as i said he is a really jack rusting terrified. his appearance is innocent but he is a great chicks killer. if only he hunt for rat, i'll *sacrificing* extra money to buy dog food for him. but since his job is killing chicks, i prefer to let him starving and keep blocking and put better baricade to prevent him to invading my coop. agree with you Christina, he is a cute dog, i like him too but need to beat him for killing my chicks. i'm really glad my chicks are now big enough to defense their selves and fly high enough to run from my dog attack and of course from the other chicken in my coop. thank you Christina.

@ pandorataylor
well, i've been told by that also twice or more but i still don't think that will make it but for now my flock are safe since they've been old enough to defend their selves. thank you for the suggestion.

Mulia those are some very cute chicks!! My daughter wants some of your chickens now after seeing the pictures! They are beautiful, and congratulations on the new babies!!

thank you cindiloohoo, well, since i only have 2 little chicks and 2 almost 3 weeks chicks i can't share it, i'm sorry, even if i can, it's still impossible to send the chicks to your place i think.
big_smile.png

well, i must admit broody hen is the *best* incubator in the world (for me) since she never need any electricity, any thermo and hygrometer, any thermostat, anti power outages (it's common thing here), anti explode bator, etc etc and etc. why i must tell it so proudly?

because, i must announce again, good news, perhaps as christmas gift, my other broody hen, hatched 1 chick out this morning, i can't get the pics now, since the baby still wet, you can wish for pics about 5 hours from now since i think he must have been dried, i'm going to fetch the baby and join him to his brother (well, another broody hatch though). i think it must be safe since they only have 2-3 days different age. but any sugegstion welcome
smile.png

well, i think that's all to tell now, wait for the pics less than 8 hours from now (i wish can make it 5 hours from now).

merry christmas to those who celebrate it.
