Hi, Just a quick 2 questions, The feed store was out of chick crumbles. So I bought them game bird crumbles instead. It will only last for a week then I am switching them over to layers feed, EVEN tho they are not laying yet. Seems like everyother time I go for food they are out of starter feed. If someone could answer this I would appreciate it.
Also, I am supposed to stop food intake 24hrs before killing right?

We fed turkey feed to our pullets when the feed store was out of starter and they did not seem to even notice. Depending on how old your birds are the layer feed may not be an issue. If they are close to laying, no problem. If it will be several weeks yet it is best to stay on the starter. This is not rocket science, though!

As for culling and feeding, no clue. I am a really big wimp and will probably give my old hens to someone else when it is time for the stew pot!
