Game birds are mean? Seriously?

Just thought I would let everyone know. My little game Hen I posted about earlier so far has hatched 1 eggs out of 4 with one still working on it. Shes being a good momma so far. She does not like me to look under her though. Lol
 
Game hens may not be mean, but I just went out to collect eggs and caught an egg eater red footed. Been having a hen hogging the nest..but not broody. Yesterday, I had to roll her off to get 1 egg. Been getting 5. Well today, at 5pm, she was hogging the nest again. Grumpy and all get out...attacking my hand....but not broody. I got my 2 eggs, and she plumped herself back on the nest. Another hen, who had been waiting all day to get the nest, climbed on top of her and laid an egg. The egg eater reached around, and ate that fresh laid egg. After she ran down to the feed area slurping her fresh egg, she came back up to the nest and I grabbed her. I don't know if the others are now egg eaters too.

have 4 game hens left (gave 2 to grandson) 1 hatched 5 chicks 2 weeks ago, 1 is sitting on 26 eggs(another story) and 1 is sitting on I think around 6 eggs for 4 days...am watching for the other one to become broody, one of the ended up with a lone chick from another hatch so bought 4 barred rock and 2 easter eggers to keep it company well one of my wonderful LF hens wants to go broody (keep taking the eggs away) tired of the shuffle will put her in the brooder tonight and see if she will accept the baby chicks and that will surely make the whoke process a lot easier and not so many chick (already have 70 chickes) chicken math what is that must be a myth....ha...love those gamey game hens....
 
Update on the offending hen. DH and I leg banded her, and she is free range now. That way, if the others escape the chicken tractor...(which they do sometimes), we can tell them apart. She gets to stay outside the coop from now on. She can lay her own eggs...and eat them. As long as she isn't eating the other eggs.
Went out today, and she was trying to get back inside the coop. Oh well.

I just didn't feel like chicken processing last night, nor today. She gets fresh water, and a handful of feed every so often. And freedom...if she survives the fox, the 2 young labs, the other puppy, the hawks.....and so forth.

I did the same thing with a red Thai hen. Not only did she survive, but layed 12 unfertile eggs in a hidden nest. My stepson discovered the nest and we swapped eggs for some fertile ones. She hatched and raised them all and avoided all the predators while she was at it. Dunno why she didn't eat those eggs, but she's a changed hen since we let her out.
